My advice is to know your car's lenght and width very well. Thats the trick and never 100% trust reverse sensors. Once you got all that you can park in the tightest of parellal lots.Originally posted by rockysham000:Hi All,
Would like to open up this topic as a place for all your views and expertise in your techniques in dealing with parallel parking, not only for myself but hopefully for the benefit of all who aren't sure of a good technique or would like to learn from others on different types of better techniques.
As in Driving Sch we learnt, as far as i know, we are only tested and taught only on left hand side parallel parking.
Qns::::
1) Do any of you guys have other techniques that can be applied for left hand side parallel parking besides the one taught in sch??? do share and hopefully we all can learn new techniques and if it's easier and better, we can even apply it
2) So far in sch they didn't teach right hand side parallel parking .... how do we go about doing it ?? will applying the techniques we learnt is driving sch except REVERSING all the action to suit right hand side parallel parking work??
but what exactly is the better and easier ways you guys would recommend??
Please all, do contribute on all the techniques you have if it hasn't yet been listed. In a way, hope all of us here can gain extra knowledge ....
Thank you very much ...........
Regards....

Hi All, Thanks for all your input ... concerning sch taught us with poles, and real life ain't with one, tat's quite straightfoward, just subtitute the corner of the car behind (bonnet part) as a "guided pole"Originally posted by Altis84:Hrmm basically have to know the size of ur car...the length of ur boot and bonnet. After several practice... u should be able to know when u should full steer. And yes never try reverse sensors esp during the rain.
For me i will align my car ard 1m beside the front car. Den i will start to reverse. I will reach the point when the side frame of the rear windscreen past the bonnet of the front car... den i do full steer. Den i align the corner of my boot with the opposite corner of the bonnet of the rear car. Den i straighten my steering. My car should be 45 degrees.. I reverse str8 in till my corner of the bonnet clear the front car. den i full steer the other direction. I should be in liao.
Hard to describe lah.![]()
Only 1 word to describe my technique.Originally posted by rockysham000:your techniques in dealing with parallel parking, not only for myself but hopefully for the benefit of all who aren't sure of a good technique or would like to learn from others on different types of better techniques.

Concerning this technique posted by Altis84, hav a few enquiries ...
[b]Den i will start to reverse. I will reach the point when the side frame of the rear windscreen past the bonnet of the front car... den i do full steer.
Alternatively, would reversing while looking at the corner of the rear passenger window awaiting till past the front car rear bumber then full lock turning in work ??? should be ok i supposed?? or any add on commnent concerning this besides stating such as depending on car size and lot space etc ??
Den i align the corner of my boot with the opposite corner of the bonnet of the rear car.
the corner of our inner boot or the outer boot? the inner opposite corner of the bonnet of the rear car or the outer?? and by looking at which side of the sidemirror or turning our head and look thru specific area ?? btw, i supposed it'll differ inner or outer depending if we are parking on the left or right side parallel parking. therefore please define ur's is for left or right and can we reverse the action vice versa ....
Den i straighten my steering. My car should be 45 degrees.. I reverse str8 in till my corner of the bonnet clear the front car.
This seems quite understandable
Thank you and awaiting for more expertise input esp the doubts on the statements above.

Thank you so much for trying your best to describe ..... I just have one more qns in addition to the above will do: hope you could help clarify ...Originally posted by Altis84:Err my poor description is actually applying to parallel park a car with the driver further from the curbside. reach the point when the left side frame of the rear windscreen past the BOOT of the front car... den i do full steer Left as in without turning back and look at the windscreen.
Corner of the outer boot
Inner corner of the bonnet of the rear car.
Looking thru side mirror.
Arggg so hard to describe.
Okie in short... ur car should be slanted 45degrees with half of the rear of ur vehicle inside the lot. Den u make sure u clear the front portion of ur car before steering into the lot.
