2 different car category. The optra is much more spacious and offers better handling and creature comforts compared to the city. Optra's FC is rather high with 9-10km/l.Originally posted by Bates:I know this maybe a old topic, but i really in the dilemma between these car
I wish u guys might guide me? about the quality built, price is ok, FC and spare part, and after sales services. since optra is not much in the road is the spare part exopensive? and city, is vtec FC lot higher than idsn? how about vios.
some people say although isdi bhp figure is lower than vios but still faster than vios?Originally posted by Ah Wei:Hi,
Might be able to give some advise here......... hopefully it helps.
I personally test drove all the 3 cars you mention before but not the Chevy. Anyway, no offence to Chevy owner but if you can afford it, try to go for a Vios or City. Esp so if you are on the road more (like in sales etc). A japanese car will definitely gives you more confident (of parts) and better FC.
Maybe you will like to ask yrself some question 1st like........ is your car going to be auto or manual? You are going for power of fuel economy? Space important?
I will summarised the three below for you....... cos got friends who drove Vios and the new G4 City. My comparison will be based on these three cars, the City i-dsi, vtec and Vios
1) Space - City (in fact, much bigger than Vios).
2) FC - City i-dsi (auto, approx 15km/l, due to 7-speed AT), (vtec auto, appox 13km/l).
3) FC - Vios (auto, appox 12-13km/l), (manual, approx 15km/l)
4) Power - City vtec manual ..... follow by Vios manual....... i-dsi weaker of all
5) Price - Vios more affordable, most expensive is City Vtec of cos.
So it really depends on idividual. If you want the most power with the cheapest price can get, the Vios Manual will be the one for you as its 10k difference as compared to the City Vtec.
But my 2 cents, if you going for AUTO car, the City will be a better care to drive.
thanks man, it help much.Originally posted by Ah Wei:I hope i can help with the Chevrolet but i don't really know abt the cars..... so can't really comment much. But then again, I do like the Optra5...... it kinda look good to me. But on long run, i believe the maintenance of these cars will be higer (due to poorer FC etc), so u really ought to think carefully.
i-dsi will never be able to outrun a Vios for sure........ the bhp is too big a difference, and that the Vios is much lighter (900+kg as compared to City 1000+).
The vtec is having 110bhp as compared to i-dsi 88bhp. A whooping 22bhp difference, which works out to abt 20% more bhp....... do u think u can feel the difference? The ans is definitely yes, esp so when u rammed the car harder. The price is 3-4k difference inbetween this two model. If you ask me, i will say that some pple will spend hundreds and thousands of dollars just to get another 5-10bhp out of his car...... but rite here, when you pay 3-4k more, u straight away get another 22bhp........ so i think its very much worth it. Of cos unless FC is really a concern to you.... else choose the vtec..............
Any way fyi....... for 3-4k more, the vtec offers you the following
1) 22bhp more
2) built in atenna, i-dsi on the roof
3) 4 disc brake, i-dsi 2 disc and rear 2 drum
4) vtec black interior, or beidge........ i-dsi only beidge
5) comes with sport rims (ugly, but can use them for trade in for abt $400SGD), i-dsi no sport rims
6) Exhaust different, vtec one bigger
7) illluminate speedo meter (overall nicer interior)rear seat diff......vtec one can fold down....i-dsi just two tray at the bottom.
So with so many more things, esp (item 1)..... i seriously feel that its worth going for the vtec then i-dsi if you consider between these two cars. Anyway, my colleague is getting ard 500km-500km+ a bit for 35l of petrol.
Hope this helps.

How about Jazz then, interms of look and space and FC its the all rounder.
If you compared legroom to that of Vios, it wins hands down,Originally posted by mr sunray:Jazz only good in FC. Boot space and rear leg room quite pathetic leh. Look and taste can be pretty subjective. Somemore overpriced and thai assembled.
My personal view only.
Actually, if u have been in both jazz and vios, u would have notice that the back seats for jazz is 'shorter' than that of vios. It creates the extra leg room that jazz boast.Originally posted by shining_force:If you compared legroom to that of Vios, it wins hands down,
btw I tot Jazz was assembled in Japan?

Try the latio sport. Its sub 50K region.Originally posted by Bates:i am not interest at jazz, it is too small for me, now i only consider honda city and toyota altis, honda civic, i know their might not in a same category.
How u guys think about altis and civic, is these 2 car really consume lot than city?
The civic is different cat from the other two....... you will need at least another 10k more for one. Unless you are talking abt 2nd hand car.Originally posted by Bates:i am not interest at jazz, it is too small for me, now i only consider honda city and toyota altis, honda civic, i know their might not in a same category.
