QUESTION ABOUT RED PLATE.....

  If i take a RED plate car is rebate by how many???
  Issit same for every car or depend on which car i taking???
  Then lets say i wanna convet back to normal plate after 3 year i need to top up how much money???
  Take picanto for example===>$36000

  rebate is a standard $17000.
  
  you want to change in future... i think you need to pay back the prorated $17000.
  
  but once your pay back, the money is gone. You cannot scrap the vehicle and claim the rebate paper.

  if i saw a red plate driving on the road during the time they are not allowed to, can i complaint to lta or tp? will they be punished?

  The red plate car can simply tear a coupon after the fact and present to LTA when asked.

  because i saw quite alot of red plate cars on the road during those hours they were not allowed to.

  since they bought the opc plate and want to violate the rule and go on the road during those hours, why cant i report them? you get what you paid for.
  they want to take chance so they have to be able to bear the consequences.

  Yo.. JP1. Yr rite.... if you get the Picanto say $38000k norm. The OPC will cost u $38000 - $17000 = $21000 plus you get $800 rebate for your yearly road tax subject to $50 minimum
  
  So I think yrs will be $50 per yr based on your car cat. You can also check out the LTA website on OPC scheme for more details. It contains other useful info as well :

  But the downside is that, when u scrap yr car later on.... u do not get back rebates.
  
  Anyone knows if we could get back anything if u convert OPC to norm car later... say after u drive for 7yrs?

  Anyway, we pay for what we use.
  
  If someone paying less on road tax but trying to cheap by not obeying the basic OPC rule, as a law abiding citizen, we should report those errant OPC owners to the LTA/TP.

  7am to 7pm on weekday can be on the road only if display the $20 coupon.

  i have been driving a red plate (opc) sunny for a few months and observed that a minority of drivers do discriminate against red plate probably because opc got a $ rebate from government. Eg. driver who dont let you cut into their lane/speed up when you signal, driver who force you out of your lane with his MPV, driver who stare at you when you drive within the car park etc.
  
  i have also seen red plate cars who did not put their coupon . For some, when you go nearer to examine, it is because they place the coupon flat on the dashboard as they do not have the decal to display coupon. It is quite hard to find such decal in car shops.
  
  anyway, i have not used my coupons yet and will be converting in the middle of the year. I am sure road bully will still exist even after my conversion to normal plate.
