Fuel ratio? Air fuel ratio?Originally posted by dork3d:Heard from one of my driver friends that cars built in Thailand have a weaker chassis and body frame as the metallic material used are alloys and more prone to rusting and corrosion.
But the performance is about the same as the Japanese make. The fuel ratio is slightly lower as the weight is slightly lighter.
Its a toyota. What do you expect?Originally posted by 39th:Hi there,
The first batch of toyota camry is made in Japan and the current ones is from Thailand.

At times it's best to retain the partsOriginally posted by casshern:i believe the Thai made ones are more of South east asian specs, meaning that unnessary parts are removed to lower the cost, leading pple to believe that thai made toyotas are inferior.
japan faced all 4 seaons but south east asia only face 2, hence there are some parts in the jap cars that can be removed to be have more economic sense.
Really? I thought the Thai version got a longer equipment list? That's why Borneo refused to lower the price when they brought the lower cost thai version in, and the latter reason being why i refused to buy a camry.Originally posted by casshern:i believe the Thai made ones are more of South east asian specs, meaning that unnessary parts are removed to lower the cost, leading pple to believe that thai made toyotas are inferior.

That's why Borneo is willing to give lots of disc while Tan Chong or Mazda can't... The latter's car are assembled in JapanOriginally posted by mr sunray:May be more economic sense to the manufacturer but definitely not the consumers.
Did they pass the savings from thai plant to the buyers by reducing the price? It seems like they save more on the manufacturing but at the same time, cost us more to buy.
So who's the only winner? The manufacturer!
Nissan is already sourcing for overseas partners to produce their cars in Thailand.Originally posted by sbst275:That's why Borneo is willing to give lots of disc while Tan Chong or Mazda can't... The latter's car are assembled in Japan

It's kinda a marketing strategy which many will fall intoOriginally posted by mr sunray:Yah right, mark up the price sky high 1st and give you disc later.
What a "sincere" business strategy. So must we be grateful or thankful to BM for giving us lots of disc?
Just like someone give me a tight slap and say sorry to me later. What a gentleman for his "sincere" apology.
Btw, good things no need to give lots of disc, people would still buy them becos of good quality and workmanship.
If they can be compromise, then the only way is to give lots of disc to attract customers to buy.

But, most ppl will still say, get a Japanese assembled car

A picture paints a thousand words. Look around and we see lots of thai assembled cars on the roads. Nowadays people don't really mind if they're not assembled in jap.
Wonder what will be the scenario on our roads if all PIs carry only thai assembled cars and all ADs carry only jap assembled cars?
