Firstly...what type of car did u buy??Originally posted by Fatum:Any ideas ? .... I'm pretty much a noob ... other than changing a spare tire and pumping petrol, I don't know much else ....
but I'm getting rather bad fuel efficiency on my second hand car, which has rather high milage already .....
anything I can do to improve fuel efficiency ? .... the car's pissing away petrol like a platoon of peeing NS boys after a water parade ....![]()
i got a plymouth acclaim, a GM brand, 2.5 litre, but it this model is used by some taxi companies in fact, so I think fuel efficiency should be pretty okay at least. Was driving a geriatric toyota tercel before that (don't know the local equivalent), and even accounting for the size difference, the toyota sipped petrol ... errr .... what's clearing carbon ? ... thanks.Originally posted by drumstick:Firstly...what type of car did u buy??
There are some born drinker but there are still some ways of saving FC. like being light-footed, no higher than 2.5k rpm. dun drag engine.off air-con... dun wind down window etc. its all in habit of driving. Free-gear on down slope(not recommanded for some drivers) Tyre alighnment has to be in good condition...pump up the air in the tyre. Once in a blue moon go clear carbon. choosing a better quality petrol etc.

Don't turn on aircon, don't wind down windows either.![]()
worn out tyres also cause poor FC.....Irregular maintainence also....and worst case scenario is that yr engine oil has turned into sludge....saw one 7 series engine in this condition b4....not pretty...Originally posted by skeujin:make sure yr tires r properly inflated.
sml issue bt it makes a diff
no wad....i did that B4 in my car....but i opened the vents from the aircon which allow outside air 2 come in.....Originally posted by mr sunray:Yah right, to die of oxygen in the course of achieving good FC?![]()
my car's consumption ? ... hmmmm .... hang on .... got to go root around for the owner's manual ....Originally posted by GSXR~RACER:wait!!!!
my fren used to complaint his lancer drinks fuel like water draining... says he gets 12-13km/lit... coz his bike used to get 40km/lit before driving... i scolded him...
so what is the car's consumption??? he haven't mentioned yet.. it depends on your car..
Ford falcon? That 4000cc monster? Auto transmission? If yes to all the above, this thread has just turned redundant.Originally posted by Fatum:my car's consumption ? ... hmmmm .... hang on .... got to go root around for the owner's manual ....
but like I said, this car is still use by some taxi companies as their fleet car, so I suppose the consumption shouldn't be that bad at all, despite it being an American car .....
I'm fishing around for a sort of maintenance solution actually, with fuel prices the way they are now, it's starting to hurt my budget .....![]()
nah ..... 2.5 only ....Originally posted by ditzy:Ford falcon? That 4000cc monster? Auto transmission? If yes to all the above, this thread has just turned redundant.![]()
