As per topic. why is it so muxh more expensive ?
I bet after 5 years more, manual will ex than auto, because auto high demand and technology is quite matured, auto cost will go down, but most manufacture's manual orders keep dropping, they have to spend high cost to maintain to manual production line.Originally posted by skthk:As per topic. why is it so muxh more expensive ?

i highly disagree with your comments. Even though the autobox has reached its maturity stage long ago, and the flaws are mostly ironed out the technology wil never be cheaper then the conventional manual transmission.Originally posted by PLC guy:I bet after 5 years more, manual will ex than auto, because auto high demand and technology is quite matured, auto cost will go down, but most manufacture's manual orders keep dropping, they have to spend high cost to maintain to manual production line.

Gone are the days when people relied on the normal P, R, N, D, 1, 2 and so on and so forth. Now car manufacturers are building upon this to include clutchless manuals, selespeed, steptronic, multitronic, easytronic etc and the latest is DSG and SMG II. These form of technology will almost certain to cost more than producing the conventional manual gearboxes.
Furthermore they will not phase out manual gearboxes because singapore is one of the few countries that have high demand for autoboxes. In the majority of europe customers still rely on manual as they are much cheaper to maintain and the FC is definately less. Plus, manuals work better in mountainous regions which are found mostly in the northern parts of europe. The demand for manual cars will always be there as the experience of driving a manual, even though coupled with the inconvenience of having to massage your left thighs during trafic jams.
i thought you would provide some technical facts of why auto is 2-3K more than manual as u are a guy,but u did not...hmmmOriginally posted by Theatre Of Dreams:if you're a male, this post by me would have been to flame you.
but since you're not...
well apparently the automatic transmission employ more technology than the manual one so that it has the intelligence to upshift/downshift, hence saving the driver the 'fuss' of doing so. (imo: "fuss" used in this context is in the perspective of those who forego the passion of driving)
if you're asking why it's to the extent of a $2k-$3k difference, i can only presume that it's due to the greater demand for automatic cars nowadays.
thinking abt it....a car clutch is not as bad as a heavy veh clutch.....for a car(not the old lambos) its like "stepping on a marshmellow"Originally posted by nullifi3d:i highly disagree with your comments. no,they dun haveOriginally posted by tofushop193:manual cars have abs and ebd wat
LOLOL. ABS and EBD is standalone technology and has nothing to do with the transmission.Originally posted by tofushop193:manual cars have abs and ebd wat
