Heard the FC is about 9.8km/l which is terrible.
Try using a lighter foot when driving and Caltex petrol with Techron may actually helps. It ahs an additive similar to the fuel injection cleaner that helps yr fc a little.

Try to be light foot, travel more on expressway, avoid potential traffic congestion roads, don't ram more than 2.5k rpm, change gear at 2k rpm, keep max speed at 80-90km/h, don't ferry people unless necessary, clear all heavy stuffs from your boot, check tyre pressure and regular servicing (try using syn oil).
Install fuel saving device, may help a bit but not much.
Sunny is a cheap and good JAP car, cheap and easy to maintain. Don't bother what others said about sunny as long as it meets your budget and your daily needs. -

No choice. Sometimes got to give and take.
Anyway, can't drive fast in s'pore. Even good pickup will not give you an edge on s'pore roads. Too many traffic jams and too many traffic lights here.

May be weight is one of the problems. But thought altis weight almost on par with sunny?
Sunny should be on 4A/T instead of CVT. CVTC some say is only a gimmick. -

My sunny AT can get that also. But of course, sometimes I can get 11km/l but sometimes I can hit 13km/l.
If sunny AT drinks, then altis drinks also? Oops, no offense to altis owners. -

Haven't seen one on the roads yet. But nissan new model always overpriced. Its price may eventually drop like sunny after couple of years. With that kind of price for 1.5L, must as well top up a bit to get the new civic.
If really have to buy nissan 1.5L, might as well get the latio - good FC, pretty spacious, comfortable, nice interior and new high-tech gadgets.
Think the new slyphy may not replace the sunny since sunny is still nissan milk cow. -
