These cars are dirt cheep in OZ land. Imma gonna get me a V8 supercar when i enrol over there. Hehe
While the fantasy of owning and driving a big aussie V8 can be a man's wet dream, stay clear of them.
They may look the part and while the engines are 'torque monsters', that's pretty much all they are good for. Well, I guess the comfort level and enough space to fit your family and cousins would be an added bonus too. They can't stop, can't turn and just use plenty of cubes in desperate measures to replace technology which you will find in Jap cars decades ago..
Mechanically speaking, I have driven a few, worked on many and for what they're worth, I'd rather buy a hyundai. Yes the 'HSV's have plenty of grunt and would out-accelerate almost any other car on the streets but at a cost of about $80-100 for a tank of fuel ? Not to mention many things let go (engine and trans) after the warranty period of 3 years is over.
BTW - I wouldn't call them 'dirt cheap'. Yes it maybe the case comparing to what cars cost back in SG but from an aussie's pov, they aren't.
