Musical Car

  hi there,
  
  my '98 honda civic has been giving me much problems recently. hope u guys can help me out on this.
  
  1) When i am carrying a full load, (i.e 3passengers plus me) there is a squeaky sound each time i drive over uneven roads, and even at humps where i slow down so much that i am barely CRAWLING over them and there is still a squeaky "kkkkkkarrrrrraaaccchhh" I suspect that the problem is with either the suspension or the ball joint.
  
  I had the car jacked up and found that the rubber casing enveloping the ball joint has been torn, but the mechanic told me it is not of utmost importance. Is this true? He also bounced the car up and down a few times and said the suspension was fine. Therefore he could not solve my problem and it still persists, on and off. Can anyone tell me what is wrong?
  
  2) The brakes also make weird crunching noises the moment the car stops completely, and when i release the brakes to accelerate. This problem also intensifies with load. What is wrong here?
  
  Sorry long post but pls help me out. This musical mobile is really irritating the shit out of me and my passengers. Thanks.

  try going back to KM to rectify?
  
  i believe ur 1st would be the suspension, and ur 2nd would be ur rear brakes. i think either u go to a realiable workshop to check or back to KM workshop.
  
  if the problem so jialat and ur mech guy just brush it off i think its time u change mech

  If the shocks are ok.. then I suspect the suspension has been modified.. Lowered.. and likely by cutting the springs (cut springs cannot sit properly thus the squeaky sound). Also, check the bushings.. damaged bushings can make that kinda sound also. As for the "kkkkkkarrrrrraaaccchhh" sound.. ur undercarrage scraping the hump!

  Check ur disk and pads.. sometimes the disk is old and nolonger even. Find a new Mech and get him to check. I dun believe there are things that cannot be resolve.. comm'on.. its a HONDA!

  my mech guy said tt the brake pads are only half worn, still ok. mine is a stock car so i don't think the suspensions have been touched/cut/multilated.
  
  however, i recently changed to 15' rims from the old 13' ones, would that be the cause of the problem?
  
  About the brakes, my civic does not have rear brakes! haha quite an old car (7years) but has been rather faithful till recently.
  
  any other suggestions? thanks man.

  U got to be kiddin me.. ur CIVIC no rear brakes?? Sure have lah!! maybe not disk brakes.. but drum brakes!
  
  Anyway.. u tell us in this forum.. we can only guess this much.. why not u send to a new mech and ask for professional opinion? If u need a workshop, PM me.. they will inspect ur car for free.

  yes i believe its ur rear drum brakes giving that sound.
  
  u can change everything, but now i think the best choice would be to change ur mech.
