Go for the astra for driving dynamics and design.Originally posted by J79:hi all,
thinking of getting either the Renault Megane 1.6 Sedan or Opel Astra 1.6. Anyone got valuable experiences to share???
initially i wanted mz3 cos pple tell me conti car got high maintenance and not suitable to drive in s'pore. but after test driving the opel astra and renault megane, i think i kinda like opel astra more cos of its sporty look, more power, not many on the road and better fuel consumption (approx 14-15km per litre). of cos the setback of owning this car is that its a conti car and the warranty is only 60,000km or 3 yrs as compared to 100,000km or 3 yrs from renault.Originally posted by n0x:i thought u considering mz3.. how bout all other options of urs juz squeeze into 1 thread then we can discuss.. swee

sigh... such a dilemma. a car for 5 years at least and i dun want to regret after just 1 or 2 years.
btw, if say the car fuel consumption is said to be 14-15km per litre 15in rims. but wat will it be if i fit it with 17 inch sports rims? can advice, n0x?

erm i saw the astra stats... those shld have is there.. no wow factor or anything... din say anything abt the transmission too... SE says a lot of things la... since u have test driven all the cars u r in more of a position to decide..
if FC is ur top concern.. i suggest not going for conti.... go for altis or vios... new face lifted altis coming.... and must go for manual.... altis no manual though... i know those are common.. but then again.. cars are common and uncommon for a reason what...
at the end of the day its still ur perogative
paiseh paiseh.. was talking abt e astraOriginally posted by zgim80:ya, ultimately is ur choice. but i hope u go for a longer test drive before making ur decision. e gear shift seems to be quite rough, tends to surge quite a bit. personal opinion la, could differ from person to person. so pls drive it urself n judge ya.. cheerios

a few questions if u dun mind..Originally posted by sir2yrv:Hi buddy. I'm new here but just read about your dilemma. I'm a proud owner of the astra.
Pros & cons? Well, astra gearshift can be jerky if not used to it. I didn't mind cause all my previous rides were manuals. The was a hickup wif the gear once before, but since the new ECU upgrade, its fantastic.
The handling of the astra is great! Handling may not be as good as the Ford Focus, but its very nippy. Don't trust the 13.3km/h. Trust me, its faster than that, especially wif the sports mode.
I'm getting consumptions of abut 14-16km/l, which is good for a conti car. Ma not be of everyone's liking but I love my Astra.
Happy buying...
Well.. I believe.. it can happen on a conti car. Though I must say he is very light footed.Originally posted by nOrmalbOi:a few questions if u dun mind..
which model u got and how much did u pay for the car?
ECU upgrade is done by agent?
whats this 13.3km/h point to?
how long have u had ur car? frankly... the FC figures are scarcely believable.. too good to be true.. not saying u dunno ur stuff or anything like that... just... unbelievable..
