new colt design is nice... but prefer sedans over hatches.. then again the latio sedan looks wierd.. but the latio hatch is hot... but i will choose colt la..

I do not really know the Latio but I think I can provide some information about the Colt Plus.
Basically, the Colt Plus has slightly more space in the boot compared to the Colt or the Latio. The plus point would be the electric tailgate which is unheard of in the Colt Plus's category. The tailgate can be opened via the remote key of a switch in the car. After loading the stuffs, a press of a button on the tailgate will close it.
The Coltl Plus runs on a more refined engine than when the Colt first made a comeback into the local motoring scene. The Colt Plus also comes with stuffs like auto-headlights, speed-variant intermittent wipers, 4 auto power window controls on driver side, power wing mirror that will unfold when the car reaches a speed of 30km/h.
In my opinion, the Colt Plus is definitely value for money cos you don't get all those stuffs mentioned for the same price. Also this Mitsubishi comes from Japan. -

To me there is no issue, Why buy a Nissan that doesn't have the 4-red circles on it's ass? Nissans are trash, I have driven Mits my whole driving life (10years) and they have never let me down.
Want a great responsive engine without the 'beng' (HOnDA) look? The Mitsubishis are the way to go!
I currently drive a colt, responsive, frugal (fuel consumption about 14-15km/l) and spacious. The front seats are definitely more spacious than the Latio!
Although I must agree that there are more Colts and Colt Plus on the road now, it is still a more refreshing sight compared to the Latio (especially to the wierd-looking Sedan!).
To be fair, the Colt and Colt Plus has their limitations, the high body height means that there is a healthy dose of body roll when you tackle corners aggresively, but so long as you are not trying to break the track record at Sepang, you should be perfectly safe.
So if you are thinking of the Latio,...I would simply say :"DONT DO IT!!!"
PS: if you don't mind PI, the new BB, Rush, Ractis are all quirky nice alternatives. -

Well, when I mentioned the boot space, I was doing a comparison b/w the Latio Hatch and the Colt Plus. Cos I don't suppose the thread starter will be looking at the Latio sedan.

My point is the Colt Plus gives you such stuffs at reasonable pricing and thus it is value for money. There will be many stuffs that can breakdown in a car. Even the power window can break down on Toyotas. Should we all get back to using hand-operated windows?
As for mr sunray's remarks that the features I mentioned are quite common on a normal jap car.

forgive my lousy English but I meant to say that when the driver switches on the intermittent wipers, there is no need to adjust the speed. The car will sense the speed of the intermittent wiper according to speed. Maybe mr sunray is talking about the ring on wiper control stalk which allows you to adjust the timing of the intermittent wipers.

yes i agree most cars comes with power fold feature. But the Colt Plus unfolds automatically upon reaching the speed. Haven't we all seen cars cruising on expressways with their wing mirrors folded?

Frankly, I haven't driven any bread and butter Nissans for more than 4 hours in my life. But I have had 4 uncles who bought various models of Nissan Sunny over the years and I have sat in and driven most of them on different times.
Problems? let's list them out.
Fuel Consumption?
Sunny(latest version) - cRappY...BIG TIME cRappY.
March (old one) - Bad, car underpower so you have to wack it so FC goes down the drain.
Sunny VIP - quite ok
Overall ride comfort?
Sunny (latest version) - Comfy ride for passengers, lotsa roll when you corner
March (old one) - very nice (probably cos you are crawling when you corner)
Sunny VIP - tracks well and true, some roll but not excessive.
Engine?
Nissan engines all sound like they are about to die when you rev them hard...but then Toyotas sound the same... ... just drink less fuel.
Conclusion:
Nissan VIP quite a good car! unfortunately, it is no longer on sale...sigh
I know that the sunny is a very popular car among singaporeans and it is quite comfy to ride in but as a car to drive, it is crap! really.
Newer Nissans no comment yet. TO BE FAIR, the basic lancer that Cycle brings in to sell cheaply is also crappy inside. BUT the engine is way better than that one you find in the Sunny.

so i'm driving a beng car?? its alright...i can take it.
anyway, just to broaden some pple's mind somewhat, beng car or otherwise its in the driver...not the car.
mits also have alot of uncles driving them...so i can classify them as uncle/ah pek car? then again, there're younger mit drivers too. 
dun one bamboo hit the whole boat leh. -
bub, for civics...unless ur comparing the older generation of civics (7th), then its more fair to the rest of the cars in the 1600cc category. otherwise, civics come with 2 variants in singapore - 1800 n 2000cc. i think lastest civics have auto-folding side mirrors.

I do not classify cars according to the engine capacity. The models which I quoted are supposed to be the bread and butter car, hence I feel it is justified to quote the civic even though the 8th gen has a higher engine capacity. While S'poreans peg prices according to engine capacity, having a larger engine does not mean the car has superceded it's own identity of a normal car. The 8th Gen Civic is still the bread and butter car for Honda no matter what, hence I do not see the point about being fair or unfair. If it is a bread and butter car, it is a normal car. One example will be the newly launched Nissan Sylphy which is not the bread and butter car for Nissan even though it has a 1.5 litre version. The 8th gen civic comes in VTI, VTI-S & Si, the last one being 2 litre. Is there a need to reiterate the point that it has a higher engine capacity after the above-mentioned? I beg to differ. Just for the record, Civics of the previous and current generation do have power fold feature for their wing mirrors. The current 8th gen even comes with hydrophilic mirrors. But they do not unfold by themselves upon reaching a certain stipulated speed. My previous point of discussion was the auto-unfold function of the Mitsubishi Colt which will kick in when the car reaches 30km/h.
It will be great to share knowledge in this forum but I sincerely hope people will refrain from making assumptions which will add to more confusion.

Have you ever tried to floor your lancer more than 3k rpm?? If you haven't, better try it and you'll be amazed!!

I've sat in the Nissan Latio before.. To be honest, it's not bad actually. The interior is nice looking, even though it looks small from outside, there's actually ample space inside. The interior feels well made, the transmission is smooth and not jerky, and handling overall feels rather solid. So i'm quite impressed with latio even though its "a nissan without four red circles on the back".
