How to run in a new car?

  just bought a opel astra 1.6. how do i run in this car? any tips?

  Just drive as smoothly as possible. Don't rev the engine unnecessarily.

  Try not to rev above 3500 RPM. It is possible in an auto car FYI but i'm assuming your Astra is MTA.
  
  Don't tavel above 90km/h and don't do any hard driving. Most cars are techincally run in by those couriers who bring the cars frm the shipyard. Basically after 100km or so you can start playing with the car.

  still need to run in new car nowadays?? i thought unless u replace new piston if not no need to run in one.. saw alot new cars outside also never run in but sprint very fast when pick up.

  There're two sayings.
  
  Some say don't rev too hard and don't travel at high speed.
  
  Some say rev till redline and try to travel at max speed.
  
  But i'm not too sure which saying is correct.

  the first one done after the car is handed over to the customer.
  the 2nd is done BEFORE the car is handled over to the customer (quality check)

  You don't want what little debris from the manufacturing process damaging your engine.

  i asked my SE and he told me nowadays new car no need to run in cause its already run in... lols... correct me if im wrong... =)

  Some say 1k km, some say 5k km, some say 10k km.
  
  My SE told me 10k km and i have confirmed this at the authorised service centre.

  used to drive a new alfa in australia and the agent told me to do 10km at 80km/hr max...
  
  but when i came to singapore, not many agents advise of a run-in...

  car was run in at not more than 90 kmph for 1000km...
  
  noe of a stilo... run in is to drive normally... then once in a while go full acceleration and revs then slowly go back normal again..

  10K??! Crazy... cannot drive new car like normal until first oil servicing, siao.

  usually after 2nd oil change shd be run in already...but for new car to fully run in...about 5k but some might say 10k....

  How to define engine "run in"?
  
  To me, i feel that my engine is sluggish before 5k km servicing but after that, it becomes more "responsive".
  
  Can engine "responsive" be interpreted as "run in"?
