The larger the rims, the heavier the wheels. This depending on the type of rim used.Originally posted by yeehaw:does it? if it does, how? does it mean the larger the diameter the better? but of cos as big as the car can allow.
size only affect traction. bigger rims use wider tires which determines the size of the footprints left behind by ur car.Originally posted by yeehaw:does it? if it does, how? does it mean the larger the diameter the better? but of cos as big as the car can allow.
PIMP UP MA RIDE NIGGA....Originally posted by tailslide:size only affect traction. bigger rims use wider tires which determines the size of the footprints left behind by ur car.
more importantly, its the weight of the rims which affects ur handling. rims are part of ur unsprung weight. more unsprung weight means more power being sapped from ur engine. more unsprung weight means ur suspension reacts slower to changing road conditions. more unsprung weight also means more wear and tear on ur suspension and braking components. u can have a larger rim, which weighs half ur current ones and still have better handling and acceleration, at around 5 to 6 times the cost of a normal rim the same size.
so ask urself, wad is ur objective in changing larger rims?
nothing but 24s are gonna do for me dawg!Originally posted by AE86tofu:PIMP UP MA RIDE NIGGA....![]()

oh okOriginally posted by Kuali Baba:Rim diameter alone doesn't affect the handling...the ratio of the diameter of the rims to height of the tyre wall does.
who teach u tt theory...TG LIM isit....Originally posted by tofushop193:the bigger the rim=more time needed to roll one round
so got rolling resistance
That's only if the tyres also become taller.Originally posted by tofushop193:TG lim where got teach things bout wheels one...serious ma...bigger diameter the wheels must take more time one round ma...not meh
dats y u have different tire profiles when u upsize ur rims. eg, stock: 195/55 R 15. aftermarket equivalent would be 205/45 R 16 for a 1 inch upgrade. the idea in reducing sidewall ratio is to keep ur overall rolling radius the same, which also prevents error to ur speedo readings.Originally posted by tofushop193:TG lim where got teach things bout wheels one...serious ma...bigger diameter the wheels must take more time one round ma...not meh
