Why the Gallardo boot space is in front?

  then won't it become bonnet space?
  
  what are the advantages and disadvantages of putting the engine in front or behind?

  bcos 2 engineers one day decide to design gallardo... so both of them could not make up their mind.. so they scissor paper stone..and the engineer tt wanted the engine to be at the back won... much to the buay song of the other engineer...

  This is quite confusing.
  
  Apparently the bonnet or hood is defined with respect to the engine. So in this case, it is boot = bonnet for Gallardo?
  
  Or is boot defined with respect to the luggage compartment? In this case, boot and bonnet positions for Gallardo are reversed.

  u want the answer.. here it is...
  
  the engine in fact is not in the rear.. or rather mid mounted in font of the rear axle... this allows for better weight distribution coming close to or arriving at 50/50... this layout is used almost universally in GT and supercars... with the exception of a few like SLR and the FR ferraris like 599 or 612...
  
  coupled with 4wd the handling of the gallardo is veh neutral with a slight tendency to understeer...
  
  of cos the disadvantage is ur engine is where the rear passengers seats are supposed to be..so u can only sit 2 pple.. but nobody cares as long as its u and tt chio bu beside u
  
  boot is juz where u put ur stuff.. in fact some cars with mid mounted engine has 2 boots!!

  u mean the italians, they use the gallardo to transport human organs from one place to another ? wont helicopter be faster ? why use gallardo ? i thought gallardo is high-way police patrol car ?

  cost bah. I don't think hospitals or red cross so rich to afford helicopter as transport.

  SL series of Mercedes will always be fornt engine mounted. Its like a trademark.

  Ok while its right to say the SLR's engine is in front of the passenger compartment, I think one thing most people here have missed out, is that its mounted behind the front axle.
  
  That in effect, makes the SLR a mid mounted engine car. an MR. mid mounted is defined by having the engine anywhere between the 2 axles. Doesn't say where the passenger compartment has to be. Thats the reason why the SLR has such a long bonnet.
  
  For most exotics, the primary design concern is how well they drive, which is why most of them are mid-mounted. Secondary concerns like luggage space are often given lower priority. Most rich people who buy cars like these, have luxurious estates for longer get-aways, so there is essentially no need to pack in luggage space into exotics. Also, packing in empty space for luggage interferes with the packaging of the car, esp with aerodynamics and mechanicals. These cars are focused on performance, and are designed as such.
  
  Mercedes cars tend to be front engined, not just the SL. Its not exactly a tradition though. As we can see, the SLR has gone for the MR route.

  since its MR, the weight distrubution is quite good. As its an MR car, your question doesn't apply to it. But yes, front engine is not as optimal for performance.

  lamborghini.com says its rear differential is limited to 45% slip, its front differential is limited by ABD function. Whatever that means.

  to say MR RWD is a bit of a redundency.
  
  MR already stands for Mid-engined(or mid-mounted), Rear wheel drive.
  
  saying MR RWD is like saying mid-mounted rear wheel drive rear wheel drive.
  
  So they've got it wrong. The gallardo is NOT an MR car. its a MAWD car.
  
  in fact it also mistakenly listed the murcielago as a MR car
