Prevent people from going in to pump petrol.Originally posted by aRcTiC_sTaR:This levy is going to deter motorists who pop by for late night suppers. Families who visit JB over the weekends will also visit less frequently. I really wonder what those people are thinking before they brought up the idea of this levy.
Read in the Straits Times Forum, sometime last month, that a DR who stays in the North, wrote in about seeing his neighbour having frequent visits from someone who drives a Malaysian registered car. His neighbour will drive his car up to the top level of the HDB multi-storey carpark together with the guy driving the Malaysian registered car and then the Malaysian will pump fuel from his car, into the Singapore car.Originally posted by Praetorian111:It is highly likely that there will be a new form of smuggling into Singapore. Malaysian cars will stop by instead of selling durians ( which they used to) they will be selling all the pirated stuffs and worst of pumping out petrol from their tank to sell to Singaporeans.![]()
(afterall, they got ten days of entry free into Singapore)

The government in Malaysia is too far away to understand the needs of the johoreans. Moreover, most of the above listed businesses being affected are mostly operated by majority chinese. The malaysian government seems more interested in discussing the issue of sand and airspace issues than to what that is really good for their nation. Of course, the RM20 fee is just a 'tit for tat' after all who are we to complain since Singapore government is the first to implement a toll charge.Originally posted by Draculax:I think those hawkers, automobile and petrol kisok owner will be damn dulan... with reduced amount of singaporean going into malaysia confirm their business will be affected.
why you want to steal petrol??Originally posted by newcomer:Btw, how do you pump out petrol from a car?
