Dings and scratch on paintwork will perm damage car?

  Hi,
  
  I got a ding and some scratches on my car. It is on top of the bonnet. don't know how it ended up there?
  
  Anyway, contemplating whether to repair or not? the paint is scratched, so can see the below (base color).
  
  wil leaving it there cause the surrounding paint to peel off? will rust set in if i leave it?
  
  is repairing this for asthetic reasaon only or it is to protect the car also.

  Yes rusting will sets in if the area is left unattended. However, light scratches normally will not do much harm to the paintwork.

  Ding on the front bonnet. Is it about like the size of a small drop of water with paint a bit chipped? I tink its juz small grains of stone on the road. Its common to get there. On Sg road...kinda common...got a few of it on my boonet already. Would be advisable to do some touch up on it as if leave for long, may result in rust or pain eat through. SG weather wet dry hot cold. Go get a touch up marker or dip a few drops of paint to cover it. Although colur wise might look a bit wierd,at least its better then leaving it unattended. Spray jobs are costly, can consider that when theres tooo much dots on the body. lolz.
