1. i wun even consider the auto if i drive this kinda car.. if u want the convinience of an auto i suggest u consider other options...Originally posted by DiablosX:Hi there! This is my first posting despite joining this forum for quite some time. I need some advice and help from fellow friends out there.
I am currently interested in the RX-8, however there are some issues in which i would like to address and i hope that existing owners could help contribute?
1. Which dealer should i get it from? Mazda or PI? (I understand that PI has the auto version and not Mazda??) What is the difference in the configuration?
2. The price as listed under various PIs is rather attractive! I wonder how's the service at their authorised workshops? Is it reliable? They even manage to provide 5 years labor free warranty. Is there a recommended PI dealer in which i could be recommended pertaining to the purchase of this specific car?
3. How is the fuel consumption like for the car? (M or AT) i heard that it is extrememly bad. Any other related problems in which i should be aware of?
4. How is the insurance like? Is it considered as a 2 door or a 4 door car? (I am 26 years of age)
5. I heard that the rotary engine is very prone to wear and tear and that i would be expecting to change the car after the early years of ownership. How true is this?
Sorry for the string of queries but i sincerely hope that fellow members could help me out?? Thanks!

sounds like u been to mycarforums.. haah cos they have a new thread on is250...Originally posted by DiablosX:Thanks for the prompt reply people!!
Actually i have a few list of cars on my mind,
1. IS250
2. BMW 320
3. Mercedes C Class (C180)
4. Mazda RX8
These are not arranged in terms of preference. Just that i was actually targeting the IS250. However, i saw in one of the forums that the finishing this time round is rather dissapointing.
Any ideas or suggestions????
horror stories galore coming frm PML.. hahah ur right man...Originally posted by DiablosX:I think thats right!
I saw this thread on the IS250 and some guy was going around taking pictures of the car, showing us the dissapointing QC lexus is adopting now.
For me, i am a Lexus fan. However, after seeing the pictures..... i am a bit dissapointed. My wife prefers the cars as i had mentioned and personally, i hate big cars. So high end capacity cars of the brands i have mentioned is a big NO NO. (Eg. 520, E Class etc)
She loves the RX 8 and so do I but i did mention to her the HARSH engine of the rotary (in terms of FC) and the probability of introducing problems such as wear and tear in the near future.
Haiz....... really headache. In fact, the Lancer is also part of my choice as it looks "sexy" as what my wife had mentioned.
For me i personally love the IS250 or the 320. Just that my feedback from my friends with regards to their experience with PML just simply makes me sick......
haha no prob...Originally posted by DiablosX:Thanks n0x!
Will definately go down to take a look at the IS250 personally. I have a bad habit though, if i were to go down and test drive, most of the time i would order it on the spot. Hahahahah.
However, due to the current nature of my work, i think it is not advised to drive such a car and such a brand.
My boss drives just a Hyundai Sonata. His deputy drives a BMW 520 though. But the deputy is known to be well to do in his lifetime and that he has already pathed himself a career already.
Many of my colleagues did mention to me to hold back on my purchases in the event that it actually affects my "performance" in the eyes of my big boss.
Well........ human socio dynamics and politics is something of a real mystery dun you think?
forget the BMW 320 unless its the E46 cos the E90 is JUST SOME CAR.....Originally posted by DiablosX:Thanks for the prompt reply people!!

1: Totally agree with that statement coz if you opt for the auto you will never get the 9.5k rpm of the rx8 that the whole world was crazy about when it was first launched.Originally posted by n0x:1. i wun even consider the auto if i drive this kinda car.. if u want the convinience of an auto i suggest u consider other options...
2. PI always use a lot of gimmicks with a lot of hidden T&C to lure pple.. if MM carries this car i suggest u go to MM for peace of mind..
3.the fuel consumption for a rotary is notoriously bad.. last i heard is 7km/l on the avg...
4. i believe insurance shld be quite low since u are 26.. and i assume u not P plate bah...and most insurance co. see CC of car.. so this one 1300 and then can be considered 4 doors.. some sorta loophole...
5. the old rotary found in the FDs and FCs wears out easily.. but the new one found on the rx-8 is better.. HENG@ got mention b4 but i forgot the explanation liaoz...![]()
