practical class 1st time

failed my basic theory but retaking soon, any tips? and i just booked for practical test a day after my theroy test, i am scared a little, what to expect for on the first day of practical test, is it scary to hold on the wheels? i am a little scared, esp someone told me i drive down the drain, somekind of making me lose heart, but i have interest but felt a bit lost of confident, is it hard to drive? like controlling yourself on the road.

dun worry....if u private the instructor will drive first and bring u to some ulu place den u try just go slow....if u school den u will on hazard lights all the way(at least for ssdc) den every one will siam away from you...
btw in case u din know passenger side got brake also...so just relax...anything wrong the instructor will know how to handle one... -

You never even drive before and taking practical test?

For ThreadStarter: There's nothing to worry~ car is easier to handle than taking an exam hehe. Juz go there, learn what ever u can, and definately ask when u dunno! u pay for the instructor to seat beside U!!!! -

Hmm...U mean Practical Lesson or Test? Thot u can only book the practical lessons once u pass yr basic theory? Or have they changed the rules since I passed?
Think U can only apply for yr PDL (which allows u to learn driving on the road) once u pass yr Basic Theory, and u can only book yr Practical Test (aka TP) once u passed yr Final Theory (or Advanced Theory) & completed a number of practical lessons. Of coz this applies if you're learning from a driving school. Not sure abt private instructors though

yeap i find it strange too, i 've failed my Basic theory last month, now booking retest next July and they allow me to book for Practical lesson too. how come, and how is it scary or not, learning practical for 1st time?

Hi Alba,
Don't be scared. When I first started, I was very nervous too. I had no experience what-so-ever with cars. In fact I nearly didnt turn up for my first practical lesson. But I forced myself to go .... told the instructor I know nuts about cars. Luckily he was rather nice and patient with me. He intro the parts to the car - what is what and then he let me have the feel of moving forward slowly, and then reversing. Don't worry too much, the instructors are trained to teach and they will know what to do. Like what was mentioned before, the cars all got brakes at the passenger side so that the instructor can brake the car in case of anything.
Please don't be disheartened with what people says coz if you think you can do it, you will be able to do it. I too was rather disheartened after my second lesson coz the instructor then (I got different instructors each time coz went thru driving school), was rather harsh when I couldn't drive properly. But I kept trying and trying, and in the end, all turned out well.
I passed on my first try and now am driving my dream car.

i think they do that because they want people to have more practical and practise more and so that the passin chance will be higher? maybe?
cos driving the the key to pass is to drive more cos driving is a skill and needa practise more to pass mah... -
