Has anyone tried braking down from Genting Malaysia? I think mid way down, your disc rotor will be very colorful, because mine did!!!!!!.

Disc brakes of cos better lah! if not y so many cars now coming wif discs on all 4s?
Disc brakes are very much less affected by water (frm rain or smt like tt) as compared to drum... Drum brakes easy 2 cut somemore... n of cos uglier...
Wonder y heavier vehicles like the toyota fortuner, kia carnival,n mazda MPV still use drum???

i not so sure bout drum brakes but for disc brakes(db), it's easy to maintain, less maintainence than drum, better performer than drum and can be modified easier than drum cos drum is whole thing and disc brake is pieces put together

Discs brakes were invented long after drum brakes.
They were invented as a result of research for formula one racing.
All the expensives cars have disc brakes on all 4 wheels.
The big round shining part is the disc. It has holes for ventilation to dissipate heat.
That block at the back of the pic is where the brake pads are housed. Using hydraulic action, the pads are pressed against the disc. The pads are like the bread in sandwiches. The disc is like the ham inside the sandwiches.
When the pads press against the dics, the spinning discs stop and that stops the car. -

i tot brakes don need to modify except for changing better brake pads? -
Most heavy commercial vehicles use all-round pneumatic drum brakes, as they work better for their size and kerb weight.

they have alot of types of discs as well, those tat are cross drilled are very exp and sum are more lightweight than other...or more heavy duty so tat can have powerful and lasting brakes

depends on the manufacturer whether is he trying 2 save $$ on brakes 2 make the car cheaper....something which i dun think shld be done....tts somewhere where i wanna spend $$ on -

also inside the calipers got diff mah.. 1 piston up to 6 pistons per caliper... piston also got floating 1 or got fixed 1... -
err...i think AP racing has up to 10 pots...
