Picanto VS Getz for OPC

Hi guys,
Shld I get a OPC Picanto or Getz?
Which is a more quieter car?
More reliable and stable?
Back seats for picanto can fit 3 ppl nicely?
Price diff for 1.1L Picanto and 1.4L Getz is about 5k I guess..
How much is the insurance for P Plate holder? Anyone here?

y not go abit more for Vios though the back sit abit cramp..but getz is quite okay for auto as it has the 5 door compared to the manual 1..3 door nia..

Rent a car per day about 70, if monthly about 250 to own a car and can go out any time I want..

picanto is a better choice.
Both cars r not quite, but some sound proofing should help... ( btw does anyone noe how much sound clad is n if it's gd???)

I'm driving 1.3A but since you are comparing Getz1.4A vs Picanto 1.1A, below is my finding after driven my friend Picanto 1.1A for a few times :-
with the S$5k price difference :-
Getz1.4A
1. much more powerful
2. sound proof much better
3. more roomly
4. 4x power window (Picanto only 2x front power window)
5. bigger boot space and with boot cover
6. better quality on the interior door panel as well as dash board
7. bigger rims and tyres (14" vs 13" )
8. 4x speakers (Picanto only front 2x speakers)
9. Getz 1.4A OMV S$11,324 vs Picanto 1.1A S$8,602
I'm getting average 10km/l for 50% city

let's just take for instance the last item, the difference in OMV is $2,722 only...it is not a big difference in margin per se. so, IMHO, picanto is still better in value for bucks vs a getz if its only for leisure, travel from pt A - B, not so much of looks blah blah blah...

Check wif vincent at www.v2d.com.sg. He maybe able to give you a clearer picture. Take into consideration as you're a new driver, try to opt a car that has ABS.
Then compare yourself as i believe that you had not visit the showrooms yet. Also go for a test drive on both cars...... Make sure a good and know how to bargain friend, who has a driving licence, that can give you advise.
Ultimately, you will be driving the car, so make a wise choice about it. Buy it then have no regrets mah... -
go for picanto for more savings after it is opc car , 3ppl no problem

it's about 1 1/2 hr journey..
i thinking of investing in buying a picanto...
my budget is about $4-500 per month, i plan to pay at least $5k of deposit
i know nuts about buying car
is it advisable?

You only got $400-$500 per month to spare and I dun think you can afford the car comfortably. With $5k DP, probably your monthly repayment may come up to $300-$400 plus depending on the length of your loan.
Other costs:
Season parking (easily $50-60 per month)
Petrol (if not only for working +weekend shopping, prepare about $60-$70 per week)
Car insurance: How much yearly will depend on your age and experience (I think for you should be at least 4 figures, since you did not mention you own a car before)
Road tax: about 500+ per year
Maintainence: depends on situation
ERP: ??
Workplace parking: ??
Weekend parking: ??
Parking coupons: depends on usage
Seriously, even for a small Picanto, I dun think you are ready to take the plunge unless you upped your budget. -

Threadstarter asked for comparision between Getz 1.4 and Picanto, so people replied, saying that he felt Getz is better because of reasons he gave.
Threadstarter is the one who posted that the difference is 5K which shows that he knows that Getz is more expensive and he can probably afford the slightly more expensive Getz.
Your post attributes all the positive points for Getz as the price is higher, so of course it's better which is not the point of discussion here because the threadstarter ask for a comparision of better in terms of reliability, sound proof and roomy between the 2 cars instead of which is cheaper.
Actually, you give me the feeling that you are the one driving Picanto and is going all out to defend it.
For 5K more, I personally think it is a better deal to get the Getz, better engine performance, more roomy and better interior finish than the Picanto. For reliability, I still trust a Hyundai more than a Kia.
