SG-ans do not know about cost of maintaining caR!

when my friends or pple i know found out that i'm driving a car , they would ask what car i driving, told them i driving a family saloon, an Altis in fact, they would like "Wah lan heh, u buy that ah pek car for wat?!?! get a WRX lar!"
worst thing i had heard was "U siao ah, fairlady so much better lor!!"
i want to slap them across the face. 1st they do not know about budget, 2nd they do not know about maintaining cars, 3nd they have no ideas about the hidden costs of cars, 4th they do not know the practicality of cars in SG
my choice of the Altis is due to its big cabin space and its budget cost. its basically a get around car for me.
just my 2 cents worth, what do u guys think? -
suddenly i think after posting, do those new performance cars on the roads be able to be maintained by their owners? or will they be sold off / reposessed after some time, cos they are probably bought on impulse like my friends when the COE is low?

altis.... very conservative and safe choice. cos its a toyota!! lolz
let pple say whatever they want la. they are not paying for it so they will never understand. when they know hw much it costs to own a wrx/evo/fairlady by themselves (w/o parents' help esp.) they will automatically shut up. unless they earn so freaking much. if they really do, of coz an altis is a very ordinary car to them... -

Apparenty, Singaporeans are not too well versed in economics.
- Get a car loan & be indebted for the next 10years..........
- Parking the car for 8hours at the office.....
- get stuck in a traffic jam on the way home.....
- Paying to park a car to sleep for he next 10-12 hours at HDB carpark. -

Nahhh don't listen to your friends lah.... Have you noticed that those ppl who bought Evos and WRXs years ago, after driving them for some years suddenly eh! "Not driving anymore ah?" They'll reply with answers that are indirectly related to $$$$. All the buying and loan and stuff is easy.... then you wanna "zhng", and you already planned to set a certain amount solely for the maintainance. After a while you realise that the cost of living is rising and economy is something that you can't really control... so in the end you reach to a point where you just had to let go of the car cos it's stretching your wallet too tight already.

Next time tell them :"why not you buy lah! and take full loan for ten years for $1 down payment only mah, don't tell me $1 you also don't have?".
Then see how they react.
Altis can be mod to look young. -

tell them.. 1.8 altis 1ZZ-FE engine also found in celica.. fierce enough for them or not...
also can ask them visit sgaltis.com for more fierce pics of zhnged altis... -
but the 140ps celica (ss1) also quite slow for a coupe..
can't compare this way.. the altis definitely cannot out-corner the celica.. stockwise.. -

also, its like spending money to save time. now i can spend alot of time with my gf without worrying about the skyhigh cab fare, or rushing back to take the last bus, or things like tat.
i get alot more sleep with the car cos i save on travelling time. it used to took me 40 mins to 1 hr on the bus to work, now i only need 20 mins.
from my gf's place to my place is also that same, so i practically saved 50% of my youth!

what has got you into knots... that is what they think, you obviously bought your car on your own requirements and needs. So leave it at that.... I don't think that anybody needs to make excuses for what he or she drives or wishes to drive. why r most of u making the assumption tt pple who drive sporty cars cannot afford 'em?
for the many who's a show off with little change left, there are also the other lot who's got dough to drive the cars.
