Satellite Navigation System
A new, easy to operate advanced Satellite Navigation system is controlled from the centrally located Touch-screen and features full directional instruction, with signpost flagging and 2-D and 3-D map displays. Congestion alerts allow for re-routing, while filling stations are displayed automatically when fuel is running low.

The Bluetooth® enabled telephone system is controlled from the steering wheel and from the Touch-screen. It allows the driver to make and receive calls safely and easily using a Bluetooth® compatible mobile phone without the need for wires or cradles.

The dual zone automatic climate control incorporates individual cabin temperature selection for both driver and passenger, particle and odour filtration, humidity control, and window demisting.

The Driver Information Centre is housed in the instrument binnacle, between the speedometer and tachometer. The liquid crystal display is split into several zones, each showing important information including gear selection, Satellite Navigation instructions, cruise control information, and low tyre pressure warnings from the optional Tyre Pressure Monitoring System.

The optional highly advanced Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) is operated by controls mounted on the steering wheel. The system uses microwave radar technology to monitor for slower moving traffic, and applies the braking system when required in order to maintain a constant time gap to the vehicle in front. When the road ahead clears, the system automatically increases the XK´s speed to the level set by the driver.

The rear Parking Assist uses ultrasonic sensors mounted in the bumper to detect objects up to 1.8 metres behind the vehicle. An audible warning system alerts the driver to the proximity of objects, whilst arrows on the centre console Touch-Screen provide further information on their location in relation to the vehicle.
A front parking aid system with similar functionality is also available as an option.

An all-new Jaguar Touch-screen is set into the centre of the dashboard. The 7-inch screen uses advanced high resolution graphics to provide maximum clarity. The highly intuitive, menu-driven controls allow easy operation of the Audio, Climate Control, Telephone and Satellite Navigation systems.
The new XK is powered by the latest generation of Jaguar´s highly acclaimed AJ-V8 4.2 litre V8 engine. New fuel-injection technology and the use of lightweight components mean that this high performance engine combines better performance and refinement with greater efficiency. Continuously variable valve timing delivers higher levels of torque over a wide range of engine speeds, providing instant throttle response and broad flexibility whatever the speed.
The AJ-V8 engine delivers 300bhp (SAE) and develops maximum torque of 308 lb ft (420Nm DIN) at 4,100rpm. It is fully compliant with Euro 4 emissions requirements.

Jaguar Sequential Shift Transmission The XK features the new Jaguar Sequential Shift 6 speed automatic transmission, a highly advanced system that allows the driver to choose between Drive, Sport Auto or Sport Manual modes.In the fully automatic Drive mode the transmission adapts gear change patterns to marry seamlessly with the individual style and requirements of the driver. Sport Auto mode provides an even more responsive fully automatic shift strategy.
For maximum driver involvement, one-touch paddles mounted behind the steering wheel can be used to control gear selection manually in either Drive or Sport Manual modes. The drive-by-wire engine management system matches the use of the paddles to an automatic blip of the throttle during downshifts to achieve the ultimate in rapid, ultra-smooth gear shifts.

The key to the new XK´s remarkable performance characteristics lies in its all-aluminium body structure. Using techniques developed by the aerospace industry, the bodyshell is constructed from extruded, pressed and cast aluminium components which are riveted, epoxy-bonded, and in specific areas, bolted together. The resulting body structure is not only strong and remarkably rigid but also exceptionally light, and means that the new XK accelerates faster, handles more precisely, stops more quickly, uses less fuel and is safer in the result of an impact.

Acoustic Refinement
The new XK has been engineered to offer exceptional levels of acoustic refinement. This encompasses both the prevention of undesirable noise and vibration from entering the cabin, as well as the fine tuning and refining of the engine induction and exhaust systems to produce the unmistakeable acoustic quality that is unique to a Jaguar sports car.

The new XK´s unique aluminium structure and class-leading chassis design provides an unparalleled blend of ride comfort and handling. The rigidity of the Coupe – measured by torsional stiffness – is 31% greater than the previous model, while the Convertible´s unique design allows the car to be 48% more rigid and still 140kg lighter than its predecessor.
For the XK driver, the result is a superb performance feel with exceptional agility on the road, and cornering that is pin-sharp, precise and predictable.

An improved Computer Active Technology Suspension (CATS) system ensures the optimum balance between ride, handling and traction, whatever the road and driving conditions. The system uses electronically controlled suspension dampers that switch continuously between settings to optimise grip, comfort and control.
Fitted as standard, Trac DSC (Dynamic Stability Control) automatically detects critical driving situations and intervenes to assist the driver by applying braking to individual wheels and reducing engine torque. The system helps to correct over-steer and under-steer, and improves acceleration and traction.

All XK´s are fitted with Jaguar´s highly sophisticated Adaptive Restraint Technology System (ARTS) for maximum occupant protection. The system assesses the severity of a frontal impact as well as the number, weight and position of the occupants in order to determine the optimum deployment of the front airbags.

Convertible Roll-Over Protection System
The XK Convertible´s Roll-over Protection System activates in 65 miliseconds. Two massively strong hoops, discreetly stowed beneath the tonneau cover, deploy and lock behind the rear seats when an impending roll-over is detected by the on-board sensors. This creates a survival zone between the windscreen surround and the rear of the cabin.

The XK´s new performance braking system has been developed and tested extensively at the dedicated Jaguar research facility at the Nürburgring racetrack, Germany. It uses advanced technologies to provide greater braking power and more faithful feedback.Larger ventilated discs contribute to improved stopping distances, better pedal feel, and reduced fade in extended hard use.

The Intelligent Lighting System features automatically operated, self-levelling Bi Xenon Headlights as standard. At parking speeds, Corner Lamps housed within the main headlight unit are activated by the direction indicators to give improved illumination.
Optional Active Front Lighting provides enhanced visibility during higher speed cornering. Sensors react to the vehicles speed and the angle at which the steering wheel is turned, swivelling the dipped beam lens to increase illumination around corners.

The Cruise Control system, fitted as standard, features an Active Speed Limiter, which allows the driver to set a maximum speed which the car will not exceed.

The Tyre Pressure Monitoring System transmits information from each wheel via individual receivers to a central module, which displays any necessary warning to the driver. The system is fitted as standard where run flat tyres are specified, and is available as an option with other tyre types.

The Electronic Park Brake engages automatically when Park is selected and disengages automatically when the accelerator is activated. This provides added convenience and safety when parking or pulling away, as well as eliminating the possibility of accidentally driving with the handbrake on. A discreet electronic switch housed behind the transmission selector also allows manual control in situations where short term braking is required, such as when stationary at traffic lights.
