BMW sales in Singapore increase by 47% in first half-year

Either Singaporeans are getting super rich, or Mercedes Benz is losing its customers who go for luxury cars.

Reflecting the strong global performance of the Group, sales of BMW vehicles* in Singapore increased by 47% during the first half of the year, compared to the same period last year.
All in, a total of 2061 BMW and MINI vehicles were sold between January and June this year. In the first half of 2005, 1399 BMW and MINIs were sold here. -
If you compare to toyota this is not much, infact ppl are down grading, look at the figure of deregister of car every mth most of them are big CC. Do you think they are all new buyer? they are just changing new car to get lesser loan per mth. If you look at the percentage of car in mta web site the increase of big cars is very slow or maybe decreasing. The ranking for merc and BMW is dropping, cos the nos. of COE increase alot in the last 2 years. Media like to compare thing without giving much info, this is where ppl kana smoke and thinking that sg ppl are rich. Ppl from Merc down grade to BMW, and ppl from 2L car downgrade to 1.6 L and so on and so for.

Just take the price difference between the 7-series and the S-class. Humongous.

BMW styling has improved alot over the past 2 years. Both exterior and interior. For Merc, its almost the same old thing 10 years ago.
Singaporeans are getting richer without a doubt. Economy is picking up some more. -

The current BMW has very strong styling.
The headlights and front grille reminds me of a tiger. Fierce but majestic.
Wonder if anybody feels the same. -

BMW has been selling many units of the 3, 5 & 7 series at clearance prices cos of their sponsorship of the Asian Aerospace and IMF/World Bank meetings this year. Hence it's no wonder that their sales are doing so well but I pity those whose resale values are sliding now because of the constant price reductions by BMW!
I get the feeling that many people are buying BMW over Merc cos of their lower prices which in turn is mostly due to BMW's relatively lower OMVs. Really wonder if BMW can sell as well if their pricing is the same as Merc? To me, BMW is like Omega and Merc is like Rolex, I'll definitely pay more for the latter!

Actually, Is Porsche really much more expensive than BMW?
The BMW SUV, BMW X5 (3.0l) is going for $256,000.
The Porsche SUV, Cayenne (3.2l) is going for $265,888.

Ever since the taxi companies use Mercedes Benz, they have been losing market share.
I think very soon, taxis also will change to BMW so the resale value even more jialat. -
Man, i think those people who buy BMWs are really dumb, honestly. The leg room isn't as big as the merc, the seating is wrong, the interior sucks, and fine they have a cool central monitor with keys u can play on, half of which functions aren't don't exist on a normal car cos they're optional. Merc is cheaper, definitely more comfortable, the only difference is that you don't get a better engine on the standard merc you see as compared to the BMW
