  When you want to go to another country and drive.
  
  Do you apply for international license in the country you are visiting or can you ge t a Singaporean International License ? Is there such a thing ?
  
  Eg. You go to Malaysia and want to drive a malaysian registered vehicle.

  Yes there is such a thing, no need to get the country one, just get the international one issued by our own TP.

  Hey. I just ask that few months ago.
  
  Well, Singapore license can be used internationally. For Malaysia cars, yes we can drive it.
  
  If you intend to stay in Europe for more than 6 months, then you are required to take their driving test, If not, our license shld suffice.

  can i ask something?
  i am now 17.
  and because of what the men in white say, the 18yr olds next yr cannot learn driving until they are 21 yrs old.
  isit possible, lets say i go overseas, eg. Indonesia, and get a licence, and get it international.
  can i drive a car here, in sg?

  Can, provided you lived in indonesia for at least 6 months prior to or after issue of your first driving licence there.

  most countries allow tourists to drive.. but it's best to go to AAS to get one...

  haha.. i just read the site. its $20 and valid for 1 year. But short term trips no need uh.
  
  Anyway im not going overseas now. Just asking for general knowlegde. Just got my license last week.
  
  On a sidenote, when you rent a car, do you ask the person renting you what type of petrol to top up or anything goes ?..
  
  And whats the insurance coverage ? are they the same at any legal rental outlets ? And is there such a thing as legal and illegal rental in singapore ?

  You rent a car, as long as you dun top up diesel can already!
  
  Regarding insurance coverage, it varies from company to company. You just got your license, so no legal company would allow you to rent from them.
  
  You can search for lots of people renting their cars out..

  So those rental services you see that says "P Plate welcome!!" are not "legal" and have no insurance converage at all ?

  Well they will need a security deposit first i suppose.
  
  That one im not sure... but generally... it is safe to rent from them... just do a bit of research on them tho..

  So lets say (touch wood) you get into an accident with a legal rental car and a "illegal" rental car, in the end both also you end up paying for the damages rite ?

  of cos. having insurance doesnt mean you no need to pay anitin...
  its the same. u sign an insurance agreement but pay no money.
  
  with illegal ones... you give money but no signing of anitin... and money will be returned when the car is safely back.

  you are the one driving. you kena laa... depends on what is your fine la. speeding.. park at road shlders, no parking coupons.. etc etc...
