Need help with running/breaking in.

  Getting a Forester 2.5xt in a few weeks time. I've not had too much experience with turbocharged cars so I'm wondering how should I run in the thing during the first few thousand km on the car, can anyone offer advice? Oh and is there anything I should or should not do? The scoop kind of worries me, what if too much water gets in or something? Do I have to change the oil every 5000km instead of the 10000?

  Anyway a friend of mine told me this is what I should do.
  
  Rev up to only 3 or 3.5k RPM before the first 1k mileage servicing.
  
  After that, can rev up to 4.5kRPM up till 5000k servicing.
  
  Beyond 5k servicing rev up to like 5.5k.
  
  After 10k servicing when using synthetic oil can rev up to the redline at 6.5k rpm.
  
  Can anyone verify this?

  Coz we have no experience owning TC cars either.

  Generally for new cars, don't rev till near redline for the first 1000km or so, for brakes, no hard braking for the first 200km. Dunno about TC cars, maybe it's the same. You can change the oil anytime you want, if you don't mind forking out more $$$ for more servcing. Following the recommended service interval should be sufficent.

  Aiya... don't bother so much... just drive as per what you normally do.... i'm sure that you also cant bear to floor the accelerator of your brand new car right?
  
  Just ask the subaru people if you are unsure.... try to get them to ask the service mechanics... If they say ok, then ok lor... don't bother lah....

  basically, thats quite true for TC run-in... regarding he 5000km servicing, actually, most cars built now is made to last, so it really doesnt matter if you dont service until you hit every 10000km... But most people who love their car more than their loved ones will still go for 5000km service...
  
  I mean,generally there's o hard rules that you must go for 5000km, unless you are really wack your car hard, if not i dont see a point that you need to go service every 5000km..
