Can an AUTO car be used in real life racing?

Be it Mountain Pass Racing(like Initial D ) , Circuit Racing , Highway Racing (ya, illegal, but ASK only ) or Rally Racing (like WRC ) .
If yes, wad are the advantages of the auto car?
And also the disadvantages?

Automatic gearchanges were briefly allowed in F1 in 2001, when launch and traction control systems were re-introduced. These don't use a torque converter though.

hmmm.. but what if the car has to go through a series of tight chicanes (F1's tight ,tight corners, not sure spelling correct boh ) and suddenly be faced with a long straightway ? wun the auto transmission car be disadvantaged in the suddenly change of speed? As in, with manual, u can quickly shift to lower gear and pick up speed quickly. Auto cars also have to brake real early right? Cuz they cannot utilize engine braking..

In F1. It still can be shifted low or high gear as desired although its auto. Want to race in an auto car?? Lol... be prepare to have $$$ to change the transmission incase shit happens. Oh btw do you know that auto runs on planetary gear system, unlike manual cars if your 3rd gear is broken you can change a simple gear but for auto you have to change the whole unit?

There are many types of auto transmission. Traditional auto uses torque converter, CVT which uses belts and pulleys, and clutchless manual which is actually a manual trans with a mechanised clutch -- this is the DSG in the VW GTi, Selespeed in Alfa Romeo, and SMG in BMW.
The F1 cars use the clutchless manual trans, which is actually faster shifting than a traditional manual. The BMW M5 can shift in 0.4secs, while the F1 cars shift in 0.2secs (but they change whole transmission after each race!). No way, the human hand can shift faster than that.
The DSG VW GTi is actually rated faster than the manual version.
Even the traditional auto trans can win races against manual. No 2 cars are perfectly identical. Manufacturing accept tolerances. Cars that are built close to the design specs will perform much better.
In the Vios races in Pasir Gudang organized by the VOGS, an auto Vios driven by Lady-Rose (her nick) can win the guys with manual. Hers is mostly stock without mods.
