Aiyah.. you know how Singapore works right?Originally posted by toyota-corolla:how come? even if i learn manual in other country?![]()
eee. even if i pass my test in Manual, my license will be convert to Auto?Originally posted by Ponders:Aiyah.. you know how Singapore works right?
Long time ago (pre 1997), you only need to show up at TP and convert license rightaway.
Then they realised a trend of expats in Singapore get into accidents because they dunno how a traffic circle works. That plus, things like zig zag lines, ERP, etc are unheard of.
So they implemented that they should pass BTT before they can convert. Makes sense.
Then now singapore have a Class 3A license.
Sooner or later, they are going to justify that, since many countries allow passing test in Auto, ppl should only be allowed to convert to Auto.
but the problem is that some countries doesn't make that distinction at all ....Originally posted by Ponders:Aiyah.. you know how Singapore works right?

meaning i learn manual in other country and i wanna convert to singapore license, they will give me a class 3A instead of class 3 right?Originally posted by Fatum:but the problem is that some countries doesn't make that distinction at all ....
you can take your test in manual or auto and it's still the same license ...![]()
As of now it is still conversion to Class 3.Originally posted by toyota-corolla:meaning i learn manual in other country and i wanna convert to singapore license, they will give me a class 3A instead of class 3 right?![]()

but i suggest you don't wait around too long.
no, simply that in some countries, there's no distinction between learning to drive on a manual or an auto car ... you still get the same license ....Originally posted by toyota-corolla:meaning i learn manual in other country and i wanna convert to singapore license, they will give me a class 3A instead of class 3 right?![]()
ya. so as mentioned, they might be good enough to let you show evidence that you owned a manual car, or suck thumb get 3A then take test to get 3.Originally posted by Fatum:no, simply that in some countries, there's no distinction between learning to drive on a manual or an auto car ... you still get the same license ....
now imagine if you try to convert such a license ...![]()
WHy would they not issue you a class 3? As mentioned, as of now, you can convert a foreign license to Class 3 after passing the Theory Test.Originally posted by Caligynephobia:so lets say worst come to worst they really dont issue class 3 license and i wanna get one, must i go and sign up for course and go through the whole learning process of driving a manual?
hmm another Q. cos i have a drivers license now right, and im enrolling into NS (oh darn.) in two years, will i have a higher chance at being a driver than the others since i already have the skills? will the army take into consideration? cos i think it'll be mad cool to be driving those 5 tonners and land rovers and all that.
