will collect my new car on next tue.
any advice what to check when collect the car ? -
Make sure the steering doesn't lock.....while you're driving it.

check for dents and scratches
check that whatever is agreed on ur sales agreement has been put in.
doors can open.. windows can go up and down.. aircon works.. basically ur done ba..
the rest see the SE wanna run thru with u. or u could make him/her run thru with u with "teach me about the functions of the car"
if u discover anything else after driving off, i guess u can always go back and claim warranty

recd first then check slowly down the next few month drive -

check for any scratches, dents, even paint job, smooth leather inside. As long as there's anything not right, just tell the sales guy. u have the right to reject delivery. -

U test drive suay suay langar then how?
just check for things that U can see with ur eye and sign the receive papers...then go out and do ur drive test...any problems go back to the dealer immediately...if U go back within the same day at least even if U need to fight ur case...ur case will be stronger mah... -

The following is contributed by a fellow member. It is a general checklist only and is not exhaustive. Please conduct any further checks which you may deem necessary.
Here's a list of things you might want to take note of when collecting your new vehicle. The SE will also have a general checklist to run through with you.
Interior:
1. Master lock, individual lock, child lock
2. Window lock, power windows (at driver side and at individual side)
3. Electric mirrors
4. Headlight switch, signal switch, high beam, fog lamp (if applicable), hazard signal switch
5. Wiper switch (make sure each speed is correct), wiper spray
6. Make sure dashboard lights come on when the headlights are switched on.
7. Make sure information lights on the dashboard are lit at relavant times (eg. high beam symbol, parking brake symbol)
8. Horn, steering wheel adjusting lever
9. Boot and fuel tank cover lever
10. Seat adjuster
11. Mirrors
12. Aircon vents (make sure they can move freely)
13. Aircon (go through each fan speed, make sure the power is strong enough), defogger
14. Radio/CD player
15. Gear shift able to move freely.
16. If yours is an auto, make sure you have to step on the brake to shift out of Park, and the car can only start in N or P position.
17. Glovebox
18. Handbrake
19. Carpet (check if it is dirty or not)
20. Seats (check for stains or holes)
21. Speakers
22. Make sure the distance on the odometer is reasonable (should be less than 20km at the very most if youÂ’re collecting from the distributing centre. If the car is delivered to your doorstep, the distance may vary.)
23. Owner's manual
24. Seat belts (test them by pulling them hard in a fast movement. The seat belts should lock).
Exterior:
1. Headlights (high/low beam), front clearence lights, signal lights, brake lights, tail lights.
2. Windows and windscreen (check for stains or scratches)
3. Door handles (whether they are able to open the doors)
4. Alarm lock
5. Lock using key
6. Opening boot with key
7. Look around the body for any scratches or dents.
8. Check the tyres for any holes or punctures
9. Check the rims for scratches
10. Radio antenna (should automatically come out when radio is used)
Under the bonnet:
1. Check the levels of fluids (eg. engine oil, brake fluid, battery water). If the levels are low, it could mean that there's a leak somewhere.
2. Make sure that the chassis and engine number are indicated near the firewall and that the numbers tally with those on your log card.
3. Check that the fuses for the horn, headlamps etc are there. -
i think the list here is very good for the new buyers, but if u really wanna check in so detailed, i believe it will take quite long.

Paintwork.
My chrome trims on my Lancer was fixed on locally.
What the person did was to apply too much adhesive and the extra adhesive just dripped down and damaged the paint.
Got them to repaint my door panels. -
Additional notes..
this mostly applies if you asked salesperson to throw in bigger rims, or anything else that makes him change the tires other than the original one.
Every tire have a production date stamp. it is usually in an oval at the end of the tire specs line. (205/55 R 15 etc etc XXXX).
XXXX is read 0620 equals to.. tires made in the 20th week of 2006.
or 0501, 1st week of 2005. Tires before 2000 has only 3 digits, e.g, 950 (50th week of 1999).
So you should have your tires made about within the year or at most 18 months prior.
anything over, try not to accept it regardless what salesperson say it is new.
Yes the tires maybe unused, but tires have to be frequently rotated (used) and not stored in the same position long term. The rubber composition/structure breaks down if its elasticity is stagnant too long.
