newbie on the road, follow or ignore speed limit

Hi all,
As a new car driver and new car owner, i confuse about the speed limit in highway.
very often i saw the speed limit is 80/ 90 kmh. but when i drive 80/ 90 km, some or many car by pass me easily.
my question is, is that true if still drive bellow 100 km the police will close 1 eye ?
another question is about fog lamp.
i really often see car turn on their fog lamp. is this 'ok' with the police or how.. -
don't know about the fog lamps...
go the speed limit..no need getting points(or whatever you call it there) against your license since you just learned how to drive. -

according to the news last year the lta/tp spokesman said that fog lamps are only allowed to be switched on during bad weather with bad visibility. it is illegal to have them on during good weather/visibility.
however, he did not clearly define "bad weather / bad visibility" so i guess they wont really bother to catch. -

yup. haze is considered bad weather. i rmber switching them on.. one of the hazy nights last time.
and i also switched on my fog lights today. very heavy rain. -

I installed a pair of fog lights on my civic. During a road block at sengkang, in the mid afternoon, police and TP stopped my car and issue ticket for my fog lights...... SGD 50.00 fine. I was informed by them that if i want to have fog lights, must put up the fog light covers. I took them off that very night.

yours must be search light la. aftermarket fog lamp got different kind.. u see those with the "Hella" cover - those are super powerful kind. not to increase visibility one. more for search and rescue in the middle of fog -_- u muz be install those kind then never coverOriginally posted by Disappointment:I installed a pair of fog lights on my civic. The speed limits is 80-90kph ..and often can be exceeded to 100kph but not above then 110kph else Tp would surely not hesitant to give you a chase.Originally posted by plusnplus:Hi all,

Drive moderately, for 2nd lane is ard 80kph and 3rd lane is 100 kph respectively for more fast moving cars. Most of time i'd exceeded the limits up to 140kph but in discreet ofcoz, generally gotta watch out for Tp in operation.
Dun bother about other having their foglamps on, m i had projector foglamps and i activated them once in while moderately most of the time trying to abide the law.

i was begin summon for illegal chrome plate.
So next time avoid that area driving along sengkang east better. -
I also didn't know, if its a search light anot? Never understand why its such a 'craze' to on foglamps.. I mean sg streets so bright, and the fogs usually don't really add that much light except to brighten a short range immediately ahead of the car... maybe "cool" bah....
As some bros said, the papers came out, illegal during clear weather.
LTA oso a bit xiao, cuz foglamps usually low-slung, dun hit or irritate other drivers' eyes, dunno why they so particular. -
