Does your dad's civic suffer from the winding down window problem on his driver side window?Originally posted by toyota-corolla:i suppose immbolisier means any one wheel off the ground, the car alram will sound.
my dad own a honda civic 1.8 auto, and till now, i still cant trigger the car alarm.
i gonna try the following.
-lock the car and start the vehicle without unlocking the car.
-use a hydraulic jack to make one of the wheel off the ground and see whether the car alarm will sound (when the car is lock)
will try to make the car alarm sound within reason. otherwise, my mother will claim that honda civic have a security car system.![]()
Keyless entry is a system in which u are being made able to open the doors without sticking a key in a keyhole. as long as ur key fob is within range of your car, the car doors unlock automatically and u can just open the door. immobiliser is a chip in your remote key fob. this chip, which is in ur keyfob has to be in the car for you to start the engine. this is a anti-theft mechanism. lets say you are in your car in a parking lot and some theif who is heavily inspired by the game GTA comes and jacks your car, he will not be able to start the engine if the keyfob with the immobiliser chip in it is with you. as long as the keyfob is out of the proximity of your car, ignition will be impossible, even by means of hotwiring.Originally posted by allblacks:Hi bros,
today went to honda show room and saw the new civic 1.6. i read theis brochure and saw this keyless entry and immobliser, would like to learn from you guys, wat is that?
Cheers,
tow it away.Originally posted by sinicker:so a car with immobiliser is safe anywhere in JB?
Break the window, disengage the rear brakes, and tow it away.Originally posted by sinicker:so a car with immobiliser is safe anywhere in JB?
either the system is 100% foolproof or.....Originally posted by BrUtUs:wat if the system becomes faulty? how u gonna access ur car???
but for wat i understand, this civic doesn't have a button for u to press to open your car..unlike latio, there is this button, whereby with a keyfob,u jus press the button, and there it goes..so do u mean tat the car will jus open by itself when u're near it with sa keyfob?Originally posted by Caligynephobia:Keyless entry is a system in which u are being made able to open the doors without sticking a key in a keyhole. as long as ur key fob is within range of your car, the car doors unlock automatically and u can just open the door. immobiliser is a chip in your remote key fob. this chip, which is in ur keyfob has to be in the car for you to start the engine. this is a anti-theft mechanism. lets say you are in your car in a parking lot and some theif who is heavily inspired by the game GTA comes and jacks your car, he will not be able to start the engine if the keyfob with the immobiliser chip in it is with you. as long as the keyfob is out of the proximity of your car, ignition will be impossible, even by means of hotwiring.

The keyfob may or may not have buttons. this is in case got problem with the smart entry system, then can override the system by pressing button to open the doors. if the manufacturer say got intelligent keyless entry, but yet your keyfob have a few buttons in it, it means that the doors will still unlock when u are within proximity of the car. so u don't need press the button.Originally posted by allblacks:but for wat i understand, this civic doesn't have a button for u to press to open your car..unlike latio, there is this button, whereby with a keyfob,u jus press the button, and there it goes..so do u mean tat the car will jus open by itself when u're near it with sa keyfob?
cheers,
cars with immobilisers and keyless entry will be armed with alarms that will sound only if someone tries to start the engine when the immobiliser(which is in the key) is not in the car. when the car fails to detect the immobiliser and yet registers that someone is trying to hotwire the car or start it by any means, the alarm goes.Originally posted by allblacks:wat if the alarm activate? den will u know how to deactivate it? or else..hard time for u,i guess?!
