Hi bro/sis,
sorri to say this but BOV n wastegate are entirely different components or controllers..
one controlled the AMOUNT of boost ( BOV or DV ) ,the other controls the rate of release of the boost..meaning it(wastegate) can hold ur boost longer so u hav a stronger surge or pull..( Wastegate actuators ).downside is hotter EGT & heatsoak.
On cars having cognitive MAF n small snails, better to use DV or stock size. because the MAF /ECU is mapped according to the factory boost pressure.
Usin a BOV in this case wud cause too much boost to be vented out into the atmosphere n the actual boost tat is sensed by the MAF is not accurate, makin e turbo run lean n cud caused limp mode..or in sum case..ECU malfunction n shutdown.
BOV is good if one runs a Big Snail, like t hose Garrett ,TD05,VF38 series..requiring higher boost..better still if one has a stand alone MAF.
if all else fails, use a Steath FX or Hybrid BOV>

The BOV is a safety relieve valve that prevents your turbo from back spinning. That's when the turbo spools up a certain pressure in your air inlet manifold and when the throttle body is closed, the pressure builts up even greater thus pushing the turbine in a reverse direction. Having a BOV will discharged the pressure before the pressure is building up and in turn increase the life span of the turbo.
With a NA engine, the pressure building up is not as great as a force induction engine. That's why it defeat the purpose of installing one on a NA engine
