1) It's better not to clutch out early as at a fast speed, cluthing in with only make the car free wheel and roll at a faster speed and juz in case back car is hitting you, you'll expect to c your car flying as gear in not engaged. It's advisable to break when it's at 4/5th gear then when the speed is reduced to less than 20km/h, then clutch in to N gear followed by another break to a stop.Originally posted by LeftHT:Okay Im a relatively new driver, and I have a couple of questions, if they have already been asked i apologise in advance.
1) When diving at a relatively fast speed, in say 4th/5th gear, and I need to come to a stop at the traffic light, is it bad for the car if I clutch out early, let the car roll in neutral and brake near the traffic light?
2)Is there a use for double clutching when UPshifting?(since theres no rev matching?)
3) Do all turbo cars need the highest grade of petrol?
4) (kind of a subjective question, depending on the car you drive) When you're cruising/ driving casually, at what RPM do you usually shift?
old merc lo like yoursOriginally posted by tofushop193:now where got double clutching?u drive wat car?

engine braking is relatively smoother than normal braking, and ya it does wear the engine a lil more but not to the extent of alot fasterOriginally posted by LeftHT:
Almost identical to this. To the guy above me^: Does that mean your'e using engine brake? Dosent it make the car ride less smooth when you downshif? and wear out the engine alot faster?
