Diesel cars

  Hi guys, im just curioused. Are there any cars in SG that's currently offering diesel engines as an alternative to petrol(gasoline engines)? Pls help! I wanted to get a diesel engine-ed car is because diesel engines are more fuel economical, and has more torque ranges than petrol engine-ed cars. So i think, does this mean that diesel engine-ed cars can climb hills better than petrol engine-ed cars? Pls help me guys!

  cannot help you, cos diesel-powered private passenger cars not allowed on our roads. dun worry, ya not the only one who has pointed out the matter

  You also wanna have a diesel powered car?Cool! Then we shouldn't be having problems going up the Genting highlands when these cars were released on our roads. No wonder the Newspapers "urged" the government to promote Diesel powered cars. Just hope that diesel cars will be on our roads when i get to learn driving and have enough funds to own a car. And also, pray hard that the diesel engines doesn't rattle as hard as the Scania L113CRL ELBO!

  They're not prohibited, but there's a annual "diesel car tax" which is 6 times your normal road tax (4 times if it's a EURO 5 diesel car). So there are only a handful of private oil burners on our roads - the dealers don't think bringing in new ones is worthwhile.

  becoz of the expensive rd tax on private diesel vehicles...now some ppl are aiming diesel commercial vehicles...annual rd tax is $500 for light good vehicles

  Govt not stupid. The road tax for Diesel car is much much higher than petrol car. There's no way for you to keep the money in your wallet.

  thats not much different from my petrol van which is $100 less... but then again $100 may be a lot to some ppl

  diesel is cheaper.
  
  and yes, the diesel road tax is the reason why there are almost no diesel cars running on the roads. even taxi companies pay $6.3k road tax per year per taxi.
