SHould get some $ for body .... amount depends on make, model and age.
If you are trading in, make $ sense to ask around used-car dealers for better quote instead of just asking the SE. Price could defer by a few k.
Good guage is to check the asking price for similar car of about the same age on sgcarmart. Price on sgcarmart is negotiable, and 2nd car dealers will mark-up. make your own estimation from there. -
Watch out for the following fine print:
- make sure it's all-cash deal with cashier's check
- negotiate for the road tax rebate (the unused portion of the road tax is supposed to be refunded to the seller but most of the time, the dealer takes it without telling you)
- make sure they don't charge you the 5% discount on the paper value (common tactic which reduces the net payment to you significantly)
- get the insurance refund for unused time (the unused months is refunded to seller but this is sometimes left out because it's extra work for the dealer)
- ONLY show the dealer the car AFTER you have removed everything you want (alloy rims, stereo, leather, etc.) because once they view it, the deal is as viewed basis, so you can't take them out after that
- make sure when you give them the car, get a signed receipt that shows the time and day of handover. Otherwise, if any accident happens or it's involved in a crime, you're responsible.
I learned all the above the hard way, after trading in 3 cars already...

I had just signed to let the authorised used car agent for C&C to take over my car as I bought a new car from them. Too bad I didn't do sufficient homework.
The fella told me that there is very little value for the chasis of my 8 years old Mitsubishi. I did try to bargain but he say if pay me chasis he can't earn much.
But he didn;t charge me any % on the papervalue. He just makan my chasis value, which I found out is at least $1,000. But C&C gave me $500 off for same make trade in. So I think I lost abt $500+/-.
And I told him that I am removing the THULE roof racks, bull bars and CD changer. He said OK and marked on the papers no such items on my car.
The SE came over to help me specify that the road tax balance must give back to me.
REally thanks for the tip on the receipt upon the handover. Good to cover myself. If you can recall any other tips, please feel free to share.

Congrat, it a nice car with the CVT. Some bodykit and spoiler look nice.
can paste the Spirit of Competition sticker leh, do check whether they come with air con filter or not, heard some car make don't have, and also the undercarriage tough coat- not anti rust hor!
