can a car use tyres of different brands?

  for example, the front wheels use michelin, and the back wheels use sumitomo. but the tyre size and rating are the same

  it will be fine la.. if u dun push ur tyres to the limit..
  
  normal driving within local set limits.. all 4 tyres diff brands one oso can..
  
  but then gotta jaga ur tyre wear rate ba.. coz diff tyres/brands have diff wear rates
  
  best scenario of coz would be to have all 4 tyres of the same brand and bought as the same time etc etc

  hmm i know of one black mitsubishi spacewagon with 2 front yokohama C.drive tyres and 2 back yokohama aspec tyres. how?

  When I got my Mitsubishi Pajero Mini 3 years plus ago, the front tyres and rear tyres were different models of Yokohama. They were from the previous owners and they look new. So I nv change then.
  
  But the car rear tyres lose traction sometimes in wet conditions.
  
  Then I change all four tyres a few months ago to Yokohama Geolander AT+II for SUV.
  The effect is very different!! The traction is good and the handling was much better. Makes me feel bad why I nv change earlier to enjoy better handling.
  So I feel that its better to have the exact same model and size for all four tyres.

  i really dont think it matters.. my honda crv have yokohama street tyres on the rear and BF goodridge semi offroad tyres on the front still works fine.. handles fine aswell

  No problem at all. Its perfectly SAFE!
  The traction level of most common tyres are almost the same.
  
  The only problem is your mind - phychologically you feels unsafe.
  But the car don't feel it.
