3a / 3b...?

  Currently still a "L" plate driver here.. am taking class 3B lessons.. would one reccomend switching to 3A instead? Is it much easier..? And are most cars nowadays manual or auto? Seriously considering switching.. would appreciate some advice

  What's 3b licence? Only heard of 3 and 3a. Easy or not its up to you, if you use nokia for 5 years and then I throw you a motorola you also become a sotong. Auto cars of course more common nowadays. But remember, manual can drive auto, but auto cannot drive manual.

  iinw, there're only 3C and 3A. 3C being the manual + auto, perhaps standing for Conventional.
  
  doubt you can change halfway, gotta reenroll.

  manual la.
  though its harder but at least u noe u can drive both auto n manual for life.
  u will never noe when u r in a crisis to drive a manual.

  Yeayea, like what if one day you're hanging out along the singapore river and a sea monster pops out and wants to eat you or something, so you run as fast as you can to coleman bridge and see this abandoned datsun pick up, but oh no, its in manual!!!

  - If you can predict that you'll be an average earner for the rest of your life, then stick to your automatic car licence because most average cars on the roads come with automatic transmission...
  
  - If you think that it's possible that you may strike it rich or do well in life next time, then get a manual car licence because you may get to buy supercars which are mostly available in manual only...
  
  - On the other hand, if you think that you may go bankrupt or become a loser suddenly, then it's also better to get a manual car licence... who knows you may need to be a truck/van driver....

  ok.. right now the driving centres r introducing ever more complicating names to call what is simply learning to drive. u would needa tell us what ur taking now.. manual or auto or what in between?
  
  becoz most of us here actually have passed a while back and back then.. it was called class 3.. thats it.. no a no b no c ..
  
  imho.. as with a few others.. learning the manual course would be better.. u learn manual u can drive manual + auto.. u learn auto u can only drive auto cars.. and whatever the law deems as auto might not include the car u might like in the future.. should u decide to go for auto lessons..
  
  might be a little late now.. but theres a car + others meetup happening tmr, friday. u might wanna pop down to have a look.. nothing beats asking questions face to face i guess.. easier to pose the exact question u need answered..

  I think get a manual licence better as u can drive both manual and auto. The magic of clutch-brake control is quite shiok if u are into driving. Most sports cars now come with manual + auto (without clutch) but correct me if I'm wrong, I think an auto licence cannot drive such cars.

  as long as the vehicle has no clutch, it is auto.
  
  even if u got the pedals behind ur steering wheel, no clucth on floor it is auto.

  thats not true wad....auto is when the transmission uses a torque converter...if not its a manual.... there are "clutchless" manuals ma...so does that mean its auto?

  i think that will be the loophole in the system.... but then again i am not sure if they know how 2 control the "biting point" as after like all manuals they roll back on inclines

  but TP states that if the vehicle got no clutch, it is auto. and 3 A can drive lo.

  An ATV is defined as a motorcar without any clutch pedal. The skill required to operate a vehicle with a clutch pedal is the key difference between a Manual Transmission Vehicle (MTV) and an ATV.
  
  As long as there is no need to physically operate a clutch pedal, the vehicle is deemed to be an Automatic Transmission Vehicle for the purpose of the Class 3A.

  There is always a loophole somewhere. Technically, if you have a class 3 licence, you cannot drive the bentley arnage on singapore roads legally. You require a class 2 licence as it exceeds a gross weight of over 2500kg.

  manual better..
  if u drive auto for too long, u'll find tat driving auto is boring.
  at least manual, u get to move ur hands n legs more n it's more fun in driving..
