Traffic Police Driving test- demerit pt system

hi ppl...
i am taking my driving test in Feb at ubi. i am rather curious abt the demerit pt system during the test. (example: how many pts deducted for nt checking blindspot, etc.....) can anyone give me a guide? i dun wish to make all those mistakes that will cause me to fail. my current instructor is fierce and he doesnt like to ans my questions. so pls help!! thanks!

You are private candidate right?
Ok, I list out some common mistakes here ranging from 2 to 4 points
Fail to check blindspot - 4 points
Fail to check mirror before slowing down or turning - 2 points
In some case other than below-4 points mistake, you will get 6 to 10 points for each mistake made like:
Fail to slow down when approaching road hazard - 6 points
Cause other vehicles to take evasive action - 8 points
Stop on pedestrian crossing - 10 points
There are 64 mistakes in total. About 5 or 10 of them will give Immediate Failure if you make one of these mistakes.
So my advice to you is to check blindspot and also mirror everytime before you doing the turning whether it is left or right. It's not worthy of being penalised for failing to check blindspot.

Not to forget:
Insufficient acceleration 2 points, but can deduct up to 4 points.
Delay in moving off: 2 points, can deduct up to 6 points.
If tester see you buay song, these 10 points can be considered gone liao. [/i] -

ya la!! hope my instructor brings me into the circuit soon... heee.. btw hor... if parking parallel n verticle, the tester look out for wad mistakes ah? n if d car park not straight but den din touch the pole, will deduct how many pts ah?

and when u leaving must check blind spot. -
my instructor tell mi to practise the circuit 2mths be4 my tp date.. lol..
he oso gave mi a booklet regardin the pt system leh..

First time fail very common , don't worry .
Ur instrucor will already have a training programme for u from Day 1 u start driving , just follow his schedule , try not to "pon-ten" too much , in time u'll get all the lessons thru .... -
I recommend you go to Popular bookshop and purchase the book 'Ace The Final Driving Theory Test: 400 Final Theory Questions and Answers'. Very cheap, less than $10
I know you passed final theory already, but this book is extremely useful because in the back of it it has ' Class 3 Driving Test Assessment Checklist' where it shows every possible offence, and the demerit points you get if you commit any of them. Also shows how to automatically fail. Very useful to read and check. My TP is next wednesday, quite nervous

hmmm what i suggest is dump your instructor and find another.... seems like u are paying good $$ for a job NOT done

1 more tip.Don't do late or heavy braking,do intermittent braking.I got deducted 4 points for heavy breaking before i even entered the circuit!

Yo.. i will oso be taking my TP at CDC at Feb in less then 2weeks time!! Private Instructor oso.. abit worried about safety checks thingy for the circuit test as i heard my friend telling me about the safety checks for parking etc. coz wad i learnt was not really clear.. oni more ok wif checking of the poles nia lol.. i scared kena..
any advice??! =D -

For vertical and parallel parking, before you reverse the car into the lot or to move out of the lot, you must be more exaggerated to turn your head to keep your lookout and also blindspot too on both side, not just one side. And while you are reversing your car into the lot, be sure to turn your head back and look through rearwindow every 5 seconds, and at the same time, keep your lookout on your both side until your car is in the lot.
This also go to the same thing for directory change course. Hope this help you -

I have a last minute question before my TP on wednesday, not sure about this but - Let's say I'm waiting at a raised pedestrian crossing and there is someone crossing in front of me from the left to the right. Must I wait before they have crossed the entire crossing before I can move off, or is it ok to move off as soon as they are out of my way and crossing on the other side of the road? Can I lose points from this somehow? Sometimes my teacher tells me to go as soon as the people are outta the way, and today when I did that he said I must wait for them to entirely cross

If someone is walking quite close towards the pedestrian crossing and is about to step into the crossing, then you stop and wait. One more question? I was looking at the TP checklist and it says you can get demerit points for failing to adjust mirrors before you start driving.. Well if I have my warm-up before the test and adjust the mirrors then, what if I don't need to adjust again, can still lose points? -

Yes, as what joyanz has said, just make it more exaggerated to adjust the mirror. This will save you from being penalized with 2 demerit points.

haha. i finally get to go into the circuit liao. i was like @#!* coz d roads r so small cramp n narrow sia!! tink i too used to all the big big roads le. small narrow road i abit stress. -
Haha goes like this, I had my first TP last thursday. Very nervous, so I made mistakes I never done before on circuit and stuff, and on the road as well, so I failed..
But then because I'm leaving the country in 2 weeks for studies, I appealed to get a possible retest before I leave and I got one for this morning at 11:45. I had circuit training this morning with my instructor and I sucked, made tons of mistakes so I was nervous again before my test. But somehow in the test, I got no points in the circuit! But then on the road I got 18...
No major mistakes, just stupid careless small ones, but a pass is a pass! Just scraped it though

When tester want to pass you but see that you still not very good but still want to pass you, tester will purposely give 18 points or so la...Making you think you scrape through so that you will be a responsible driver next time.
