  Hi guys ! Im just here to enquire if Volvo cars are good anot? I mean are they reliable? In summary, are they good cars?

  in short...volvos are tanks.... 2 thumbs up for safety...so if one crashes into say a wal...all the driver does is just unbuckle his seat belt,open the door,dust himself off and carry on staggering home

  as with all other comments here, volvo's seemed reliable n safe. stylin' improved over the time too. however, the major grouse is servicng here has to be done at sm motors, not anywhere else. my cousin had a v70 2 years ago and traded for a 9-5 estate after just 1 year. he says servicng there is `buay tahan'. i am not sure if trans eurokar offers cheaper servicing......
  
  all in all, i think volvos are great vaue for money if compared to the other premium marque here like benz or beemer.
  
  i saw the v70 replacement picture recently. i think it's super....shld hit the shore in early part of 2008. i might consider it in 2-3 years time. my ride is barely 1 yr old now.

  Haha..the new S40 rocks man..my uncle has one..the 2.4i..2.4-litre 5-cylinder in-line..with 170bhp..0-100kmh in 8.9secs..easily beats most cars at the traffic lights..haha..and don't forget that it uses the Ford P1 platform, the one used by the new Ford Focus too..Focus is renowned for it's nice handling..so the Volvo S40 handles well..and with 6 airbags as standard and a price tag of $115,000, you cant ask for more..lol..absolutely a bargain..but the road tax is another issue..LOL..

  But in general, Volvos are safe and reliable, that's their selling point. And Volvo's official dealer here in Singapore, SM Motors, provides excellent service..

  Since day 1 I took over my 2 yrs old S60 T5, I've never been to SM for service, there are quite a number of workshop that can service Volvo at 2/3 of the price SM charging. Apple to apple, Volvo is not much cheaper to maintain comparing to other conti cars but not the most ex one
  
  Reliability not a question, 2 yrs of ownership I put 125,000 kms on it and the car still as quiet, smooth and powerful. Just do proper maintainence and the car will go on and on.

  thanks for the clarification. i actually checked with a couple of w/shops previosuly and i was told by these w/shops men the same reply that volvo car shld be serviced in sm motors. my cousin got a rude shock when he did his 100k service there @ sm, almost $1k! i am not sure if there are any flaws in his car but it's enuf to make him switch not long after.....
  
  i drove a 318i before my current ride, which is a jap. the 318i is actually low maintainence. i dun recall spending a lot other than the usual maintainence, done @ bedok north for an average $120 per servicing(twice a year).
  
  now i have fallen for the yet-2-b-released v70, so.....

  Haha..like I said, road tax is an issue..lol..the 2.5T would be killer..and insurance too..since it's turbocharged..
