Opinions on improving performance for lancer

Hi All,
Hope you guys are doing good. I have a few things to ask if any1 is familiar with it.
Basically I would like to enhance the performance of the lancer glx 1.6M 2005
I have in mind first is to change the air filter to hurricane open pod air filter, as after much reading abt it .. understand that installing it will give more Power, smoother, acceleration and best of all, that loud rev engine sound which i like
what's your guys opinion in this?
Also most critical is, before having air filter changed, any piping things i need to change? I'm quite a newbie on this part, heard abt the short piping need to be change so the underbonnet heat hot intake air will not undo the potential benefits of my open pod filter. something like heatshield etc ... any1 familiar with these and care to share with me your advice ???
Secondly, i thot of changing the spark plug .... to NGK Iridium IX spark plug .. as understand it gives betta acceleration, better fuel consumption, faster starting and smoother running .... any opinion you guys will like to share ?
Also, how much cost will it involve? Besides that, any economical price for other modifications you think i should do? put aside those turbo charge etc ...

Loudness yes... but power wise... no point. You dun really get good improvement. Its all in the mind. Y not try changing the downpipe, highflow cat with straight pipe. At the same time change to forge piston + lighten pully. sure to increase minimum 40 bhp but at a very high price of around 12k.
Add in a snail...there are some CS3 with snails in SG road. If want to chase a 2.0 or 2.4 NA car no problem.. but with rex and ebos.. forget it. Snail kit + piping + intercooler + bov = 3500 ringgit in Jaybee.

It actually something call heat shield. Its to prevent the engine heat or hot air from entering into the airfilther. As what they say, Cold air give better engine response. You might as well do a direct pipping from the front bonnet to allow the air to flow in directly to the filther. but again, it dun really make much difference. Just minor.

A better plug only give better sparks. It only smooth the acceleration and the iginition part.

Things you can do to improve accleration. Take out spare tyres, dun put sound system. change the rim to forge or super light weight. Dun take passenger. Sure will increase by 0.5secs
Other things to do is bore throttle, change piston, re-programe the original ECU ( if you know who can do it in singapore let me know ). After re-programe, sure can increase the pickup + speedcut remove + rev limit remove.
Pump premium petrol. Forget about 95 and below grade.
Lastly, dun forget, a faster car = a faster drinker + more servicing + faster wear and tear = more $$

Remember, if the upgrades only give minor effect, forget it.
Cos modifications which can give proven results and effects are normally illegal. Therefore not point. Might as well change a better car.. wrx impreza 2.5 selling around 78k liao leh...

ultimately for the 1.6 lancer, if wanna spend a bit, not gonna make much diff so might as well dun do. if wanna spend alot, then i suggest change car would be a better option. -

ehance performance....still lose to a 14 yr old 1.3L car

change car -
my suggestion would be:
1) get better tyres
2) get better suspension
3) learn advanced driving technique
who knows... maybe you'd be surprised how much faster you can take your car to through the corners
then after some time... you'd wanna change the car as well
