Hi,
Just to introduce myself back to the forum.
I just got my new M5 (1 yr old, < 5k km) and was wondering if anyone else here had one to meet up and share ideas / thoughts on the car - especially on the SMG and which setting would be the "smoothest" for day to day driving.
Would u guys also know how many M5s there are in Singapore?

Oh great!! Why not post some pictures of your M5 here? Haha..I have yet to hear the V10 engine of the M5 rev though..sad..haha..to me, the highlight of the M5 has got to be the engine..such a piece of technical marvel..with so much F1-tech employed..lol..it's simply amazing..but it's totally different in character when compared to, say, the V10 in the Gallardo..haha..Heard the SMG gearbox has 11 choices of settings too..haha..from ultra-fast to pottering around town..heard that there are tons of permutations you can play around with when you include suspension, steering and gearbox settings..haha..have fun playing with your M5..

its silver in colour (silverstone silver to be exact). bot the car from autoconcept.
what i do like about having an m5 is the exclusivity. its about the same price (preowned) as a new qptte but the torque is so much stronger. also i did not like the transmission on the qptte.
the smg has 6 settings (which the 6th setting can only be set once the DSC is off and the power button set at P500 Sport)

The seven-speed SMG robotised manual gearbox, operated by the console-mounted lever or via paddles behind the steering wheel, not only provides manual and fully automatic gear selection – as well as launch control – but also offers 11 gearchange programmes.
The suspension and servotronic steering can also be altered via the Electronic Damper Control button which can be switched between comfort, normal and sport. With all this choice, itÂ’s as well that a function called MDrive allows you to store your favourite control settings, programmed via a button on the wheel.

yes i did pass the commcentre last friday.
there are actually 11 settings. on smg mode there are 6 settings and on auto (d) mode there are 5 settings.
the power button has 3 modes - P400, P500 and P500 Sport which can only be engaged through the M button on the sterring wheel -

P400 should be the "comfort" level as i heard,restricting the engine to 400hp.

Not many M5s around in Singapore. But there are a few fake M5s around. As in M5 bodykit and badge but not real M5. But i like those cars anyway because the owners probably cannot afford an M5 but like to dress up their cars.Originally posted by harry1:Hi,

So if i intro those fake M5 owners to you, would you hang out with them? Or you only prefer real M5s?

ask your CSA to find out for you how many M5s have been sold by PML in sg.

for everyday driving, the P400 setting is more than sufficient. i guess unless you want to drag against a rice rocket than even the P500 Sport may not be enough
i have seen some 5 series modded up to look like M5s and some of them do it so so well that its v hard to tell whether its a real M5 or not unless you look at the tax disc! -
hey there harry how have you been? what happened to your sl?? i love the smg transmission... haha in case you didnt know on an upslope if you hold the gear leaver to the gear down position for like 3 seconds it holds the rpms for you so u can go up easier (at least in the m3 its like that)

Hi SEI - Heard that you are overseas now enjoying your 996 Turbo - highly highly envious! Yes sold my SL quite a while ago, and decided that I needed 4 drs for weekend trips hence it was a choice between a qptte, M5 or E55 (or wait for 18 months for the Porsche Panamera!). Bot the car second hand 1 yr old with 5k on the clock hence quite worth it at 20% discount to new price. Abis 2 tahun mau2 ganti mobil lagi. Si MMM has reserved it already
CeeCookie - Yes the M5 does come with launch control but I dont think I'll be using it anytime soon as dont really feel like signing away the cheque book!
