Just to introduce myself back to the forum.
I just got my new M5 (1 yr old, < 5k km) and was wondering if anyone else here had one to meet up and share ideas / thoughts on the car - especially on the SMG and which setting would be the "smoothest" for day to day driving.
Would u guys also know how many M5s there are in Singapore?
Thks and hope to catch up with you guys sometime.![]()
Yea! I'll get the M6 with Hamann wide body kit, orange in colorOriginally posted by Garage R:hahhaa..nice..SK..lets go buy M6 together..

did you happen to pass by the comcentre on friday?Originally posted by harry1:hi guys,
its silver in colour (silverstone silver to be exact). bot the car from autoconcept.
what i do like about having an m5 is the exclusivity. its about the same price (preowned) as a new qptte but the torque is so much stronger. also i did not like the transmission on the qptte.
the smg has 6 settings (which the 6th setting can only be set once the DSC is off and the power button set at P500 Sport)
cheers
Hmm..u sure the SMG gearbox only has 6 settings? I read it on Autocar's website that it has 11 settings..here's a short paragraph about the M5 on Autocar's website:Originally posted by harry1:hi guys,

i saw you sped off from the traffic light.Originally posted by harry1:yes i did pass the commcentre last friday.
there are actually 11 settings. on smg mode there are 6 settings and on auto (d) mode there are 5 settings.
the power button has 3 modes - P400, P500 and P500 Sport which can only be engaged through the M button on the sterring wheel
Haha..ok..noted..P400 is the setting that restricts the engine to 400bhp..and the P500 setting unleashes all 507bhp i assume? Haha..so which mode do u use most of the time? P400 or P500?Originally posted by harry1:yes i did pass the commcentre last friday.

Not many M5s around in Singapore. But there are a few fake M5s around. As in M5 bodykit and badge but not real M5. But i like those cars anyway because the owners probably cannot afford an M5 but like to dress up their cars.Originally posted by harry1:Hi,

launch control for the m3 right?Originally posted by SEI:hey there harry how have you been? what happened to your sl?? i love the smg transmission... haha in case you didnt know on an upslope if you hold the gear leaver to the gear down position for like 3 seconds it holds the rpms for you so u can go up easier (at least in the m3 its like that)
if u want the high res pic, take from me..those i posted on the forums are edited ones..Originally posted by harry1:yes i did attend the bmw sg meet up 2 days ago - were u there as well?
for everyday driving, the P400 setting is more than sufficient. i guess unless you want to drag against a rice rocket than even the P500 Sport may not be enough
i have seen some 5 series modded up to look like M5s and some of them do it so so well that its v hard to tell whether its a real M5 or not unless you look at the tax disc!
no i don't think sei's referring to launch control......Originally posted by ceecookie:launch control for the m3 right?
you are lucky you bought the m5 over the E55... i regret buying the CLS55 that car really isnt a drivers car its so damm boring to drive..... haha im getting kinda bored of the turbo im debating between a gallardo spyder SL65 and the murci (for some reason a murci is cheaper then a gallardo spyder... i dont like the people staring at my car all of the time.... think the sl might be better it attracts less attention... jack wants to get ur m5 already??Originally posted by harry1:Hi SEI - Heard that you are overseas now enjoying your 996 Turbo - highly highly envious! Yes sold my SL quite a while ago, and decided that I needed 4 drs for weekend trips hence it was a choice between a qptte, M5 or E55 (or wait for 18 months for the Porsche Panamera!). Bot the car second hand 1 yr old with 5k on the clock hence quite worth it at 20% discount to new price. Abis 2 tahun mau2 ganti mobil lagi. Si MMM has reserved it already
CeeCookie - Yes the M5 does come with launch control but I dont think I'll be using it anytime soon as dont really feel like signing away the cheque book!
Garage R - If you could maybe send me the high res pics to my bmw-sg pm address would be much much appreciated! Thanks!
