I left the handbrakes up..

I did a really really silly mistake recently...
I was in a super hurry(late for meeting), jumped into my car and drove all the way from AMK to Woodlands, i sped through CTE and SLE all the way..
Was in a rush and muddleheaded that I left my handbrakes up
The road was clear, so i sped an average of 110km/hr non-stop.. It was untill when i came to a stop that i noticed that my brakes ain't working effectively..
I parked my car and noticed a burning smell, couldn't care less cause i was late already.. after everything was over, my brakes are kinda insensitive liao, as in, i need more braking distance..
I knew i screwed up my brakes, so can someone tell me what to do please? -
your rear brakes are very likely to be gone by now due to overheating over extended period of time. have your car sent to a workshop as soon as possible to get the discs and pads replaced and check for any damage to the system. it is dangerous to drive now when the braking efficiency has been compromised.
you must have been driving with the handbrake partially up... in fully up position, you rear tyres will not be moving for a FWD car, or you'd need to rev the engine pretty high to even move off for a RWD. and the handbrake warning light would have light up right in front on you on the instrument cluster... unless ya THAT preoccupied with rushing to yr destination. -
i didn't noe it is possible to drive at that speed with the handbrakes up. Did u really press the accelerator that hard?

huh!!! u didn't notice your car is not moving as fast as it should when u hit the accelerater? I guess your brakes need changing afterall.

Tension and speeding, rushing for time makes a deadly combination. At least u didn't crash your car like some people and end up in debt.
Just call your workshop or technician and ask his opinion asap. No worries mate but it may burn a little hole in your pocket to overhaul the brake system.

Yeah...how careless was i...i was soooo in a hurry, i literally panicked in the car, the meeting includes some big shot directors too mah...i was need to be first to present some materials. I was late anyway
In fact, i noticed the car seems rather dodgey when i was driving, after the meeting was over, i guess the car was so hot that vapour actually formed on the windscreen...
Changing of brakes and pads? seems rather expensive... can someone enlighten me how to do? or where to go? what to do? what to choose? whats the cost?

the handbrakes are seperate from your normal brakes, there's a wire and ratchet that goes to it ... you'll have to replace that and also possibly replace the wire ....
normal brake pads and such can be changed by yourself easily ... but I don't think handbrakes are a DIY job ... though you can re-tension the wire yourself if you crawl underneath the car ... -
hm. yea. get it to e workshop asap. dun worry dude. it's quite common. auto gears car are able to run quite smoothly with handbrake on compared to manual. lol. just be careful next time.

Sometimes this kind of things really bo bian. Do take note of any irregularities in your instrument panel in future, because there surely will be a very obvious red indication when your handbrakes are applied.
There were times when I accidentally drove in D2 gear. Was wondering how come the car buay zao haha. -

the hand brakes are not hydraulic like the driving brakes ... once you wear out that portion of the pad lining there'll be not much friction .... -

didnt fully release the handbrake
wondering why moving off speed was especially slow
then i realised handbrake is abit up but not enough to trigger the red brake light

The only option you're left with is to reply the braking system. It'll burn a small hole in your wallet, but it's unsafe to drive with a non-functioning braking system.

Well, u left your handbrake partially on w/o knowing it,
& sped long distances for about 110km/h.
In this case, i can conclude u don't only overheated your brake-pads,
u also almost overheated your engine w/o knowing.
Travelling 110km/h wif h-brakes on, is equivalent to travelling
around 130km/h & above wif brakes off
Engine was producing speed of over 130kmh when e car is only
travelling at 110kmh. This could hav caused overheating of engine.
Also your brake-pads would hav already been worn out during tat time.
Pls go change em. Is dangerous drivin wif worn-out brake-pads.
I'm also afraid some parts of your engine may hav worn-out due
to e diff in engine speed & actual travelling speed,
so if possible, do an engine checkup for signs of over-abrasion & over-heating.
