New car in wet singapore weather

  Hi all,
  
  I'm a car newbie and just bought a suzuki swift sport last week. Thanks to the wet weather recently my car now has the dreaded rain spots on all windows - and is also really dusty at the back. I really want to clean my car but because it's new I heard I should not be polishing it right now.Is this true? Is it ok just to use a wet chamois and just clean off all the rainspots - will this cause swirl marks?
  
  any recommendations on places that do good polishing and car wash jobs will be very helpful also.

  Don't worry go ahead and clean all over. Get a car shampoo you like, and give it a good wash.
  
  Do put on some polish ASAP before your paint got infested by water marks.

  do not need to polish ur car.. infact, do not polish the car urself unless u have confidence of doing it urself..
  
  otherwise, polishing will make swirl marks appear and u will regret it...
  
  for a start... just keep those micro fiber cloth inside ur glove compartment or watever...
  
  wipe dry ur car after a heavy down pour.. and shampoo ur car once to twice a week to remove stains from sticking to ur paintwork..
  
  last but not least.. send the car for polish and waxing once every 3-6mth depending on ur budget..
  
  i do it once a year cuz low budget..

  you said, do not need to polish ur car.... but yet you spend $$ to get ur ride polished.... so need, or dont need?
  
  best get pro to do it. but if no budget, at least DIY.

  ok.. to make it clear...
  
  do not polish ur vehicle with ur own hands..
  - if ur polish it urself.. 70% it will be the wrong method/technique and cause swirl marks to appear..
  
  go to professionals to get it done properly.. they know the correct way thus.. swirl marks will not appear and give u showroom condition shine..
  
  conclusion: pay professionals to get ur car polished..

  i personally used polygaze before and dont really recommend it..
  
  it gets the job done.. but just dont find satisfaction in using it..
  
  there are others.. but they are quite pricey for shampoo..
  
  i used autoglym b4 and i am satisfied with the shampoo.. after washing, the car feels relatively smooth and nice shine.. no, its not a 3in1 product..
  
  3in1 product = products with wax...
  
  i personally dont like 3in1 products.. but u can try..
  
  u can always go to carrefour to look at their wide range of car care products or u can always go to autobacs at bukit batok to take a look too..
  
  getting an average priced microfiber cloth is good as it has less tendancy to scratch ur car surface. but no need to get those cloth that costs $20-$40.. get those below $10 is good enough...
  
  proper way to wash a car..
  
  1. use water hose or pail to rinse dirt off the car.
  - there are small fine dirt particles on the car that might scratch the car if u do not use this step..
  
  2. mix ur shampoo with water and give the car a really good scrub..
  
  3. repeat step 1.
  
  4. use the MF cloth to dry ur car.
  
  for rims.. those cars with many spokes are relatively tough to clean because of braking dusts.. 5-6 spokes are much easier to clean..
  
  i personally like those foam sprays to clean rims because its just spray on and wash off..

  its not adviseable as it creates juddering for ur wipers..
  
  u can use it to apply on ur side mirrors or passenger windows..
  
  since urs is a swift.. dont use it on the rear.. cuz u got a wiper there too..

  swirl marks on black cars are particularly obvious.
  
  polishing by pros isnt cheap. at least $50 a pop
