Singapore police riot squad vans

  Since December last year, I noticed that the riot squad (Speical Operations Command) has been appearing very frequently on the streets, especially in town. They're always parked along North Bridge Road, Orchard Link, Suntec Convention Centre, or travelling along Farrer Road etc.
  
  Does anyone know why they're appearing so frequently? Is the police anticipating some riot from GST hike or ministerial pay increase ?

  not very sure.. could be training.. if u realises, the vehicles only appear at night so it's not doing stand-by..

  they are on standby, whenever any major events which attract crowds, they will be there..........just in case.....

  Wa..they don't only appear in towns and at night, they appeard a lot of times in the afternoon at compass point..LOL..

  Think they scrape it. Heard it was a Testing model with Manual gear, so when they got new ones for use, all cahnge to Auto.
