Petrol ( whats worth and whats not)

well in my opinion SPC sucks. today i had no choice but to pump spc petrol in my car after trying so hard to search for a shell or caltex station.
so i pumped the best petrol they had and it was 98 unleaded. thought i was pretty safe as spc is a singapore company. Oh boy was i wrong.
Could actually feel that the acceleration wasnt as good as shell's 98 and less fuel efficient as well(i.e dont get as much mileage as shell's 9
.
What in your opinion is the best petrol? -
Shell V-Power in my opinion is the best petrol..lol..it really makes a difference..but one thing we should take note of though..Shell uses fossil fuel from Saudi Arabia which is of very low-grade..it can't even be refined to become aircraft fuel..the best it can be refined to is automobile fuel..and you are right, SPC's petrol really sucks..it's 98 doesn't seem like 98..lol..

haha glad you think the same way, if you look at their petrol labels on the pumps,looks quite cartoonish as well,where is the professionalism.
caltex platinum techron is pretty good, comparable to shell V power imo. -
Hmm..ok, shall ask my dad to try Caltex someday..lol..but I'm pretty shock with the quality of SPC's petrol..cuz they actually merged with BP last time and if I never remember wrongly, BP's petrol was not bad..so when i knew SPC merged with BP in Singapore, I thought SPC's petrol will be just like BP's,,but obviously I was wrong..lol..

I 've been pumping Shell 98 into my new Forester for the past 2 months, has been quite ok, but I recently tried SPC 98 again (i used it exclusively on my previous COLT) and found it ok still.
SPC is famous for being 'dirty', clogging up the engine and everything else but seriously speaking, many of us do not drive our cars for more than 3-5 years, as long as the car is still under warranty, I dont think there'll be a problem.
Cheaper la,...running costs still matter... btw, I tried Malaysia's V-Power racing...ta bagus... -

Well, even if there isn't a marked improvement in performance in non-performance cars, it doesn't mean V-Power doesn't benefit the car right? then what petrol u guys recomand.. and seriously .. spc's 98 really sucks.. the milleage is low.. the car's acceleration feels sluggish.. and etc.. well .. just go for V power ..

I'm using 95.
Best FC is Shell.
Others like Caltex, Mobil and SPC... about the same.
No difference in pick up or vibration or all other matters.
My guess is it depends on car, and driving style. -
well 95 shell is sufficient in my opinion. its like better than spc98. if you wanna have fun over the weekend pump V power!

Generally I think there is a misconception that higher octane means more power for the car. In many cities around the world, 95 and 98 is hardly heard off. Car manufacturers design and built cars based on the mass market petrol requirements. What use if the car companies built a car to run only on 98 or V power for that matter?? For your info, most non-racing cars are built to run on lower octanes like 92. Unless you drive a truly high performance car then I suggest running your car on less octane. In the long run, you would have saved enough money to get a new car.
