oh? my understanding is that hatchbacks are all made in the UKOriginally posted by cosmic_rides:to what i understand from kah motors sales exec, they told me this euro civic is design in UK but it is coming out from the japan factory built to the euro spec. So when u order the type r from kah motors, it will still be from japan, not europe. My guess is no parallel importer will be bringing the euro design civic in.
design and specs from uk. built in japan.Originally posted by inf1d3l:oh? my understanding is that hatchbacks are all made in the UK
... then im telling u he is mistakenOriginally posted by cosmic_rides:the sales person tell me one leh. think it would be cheaper and makes more sense to built in japan.
yah, i re-read your original post, u mentioned a KM sales exec, hence my edited postOriginally posted by cosmic_rides:euro civic type r can only be found at kah motor at the moment. dun think any PI brought it in yet.
hmmmm. that is what he told me. btw saw it in Ubi. Maybe someone can confirm again.Originally posted by inf1d3l:yah, i re-read your original post, u mentioned a KM sales exec, hence my edited post
There is no Japan factory producing the UK Civic Type R. It will be produced in Swindon exclusively. Type Rs are special because majority of the engine parts are hand-crafted.Originally posted by cosmic_rides:to what i understand from kah motors sales exec, they told me this euro civic is design in UK but it is coming out from the japan factory built to the euro spec. Doesn't really make any sense actually... if they were built in Japan, it would be the JDM civic type R... not the UK civic type R...Originally posted by cosmic_rides:the sales person tell me one leh. think it would be cheaper and makes more sense to built in japan.
I read that it was built in Swindon b4 too, but that is what i was told in KM. i guess the only way to find out is to confirm with kah motors again.Originally posted by LH83:Doesn't really make any sense actually... if they were built in Japan, it would be the JDM civic type R... not the UK civic type R...
Cos its from UK... the British pound is too strong a currency...Originally posted by citymax:how come the nice car always come with a hefty price tag..sian..no money no car
Maybe cos if they price the JDM too low, no one would want the UK version?Originally posted by cosmic_rides:actually not much price difference in JDM and Kah Motor model. KM is $105k and JDM is $103k

If the sales exec went for product training, he would not be talking this type of rubbish. Or he could have been sleeping during training.
On a side note, cars bound for S'pore are produced according to what KM requested, so the Type R we are getting is still essentially slightly different even though it is produced in Swindon.
It's the same case for the Fit Aria, named the City in S'pore. That car is solely produced in Thailand. But you can be sure that car in Japan feels different from what we have.
