Hi all. I have been residing in Australia for the past 7+ years. I will be heading home (singapore) next yr and need some suggestions and advices from you guys on importing my car. Currently, i have a 2006 model Hyundai Getz. I note that LTA allows importation of car 3yrs old or less into singapore. Just wondering, if anyone know roughly, how much will the whole process cost? i read the lTA guide, but it isnt very detailed. Or anyone know of any agent in singapore who will arrange all the importation at a reasonable cost? If the cost is way too high, i will rather just sell it and buy one in singapore.
Secondly, i am thinking of buying a Subaru Impreza 2.0i from australia and import it back to singapore. Lately, Subaru came out with a luxury edition for the Impreza 2.0i which i like it very much. Not sure if this edition is available in singapore or not becos singapore website shows only the 1.6l edition. So again, anyone know of any dealership that will do the importation for new subaru?
Thanks all in advance.

humm..might as well sell the hyundai get.. and get another car in sg..

the getz is a very common car back in sg, if you are considering importing this, you are better off buying a new getz here. If you want to import other car models that are not available in sg, you must be prepared to do a lot of paper work and LTA checks and test. I guess it is best to check with a parrallel importer. There used to be a importer that does imports of cars of your chose know as ez-import. Dun think they are around any more.

Ya dont bother driving your current car back. Is cheaper to get one here.
Before you proceed getting the Subaru or whatever ride, check if you can get support back here in sg. Don't end up even a light bulb you also need to import.

Thanks to all for your reply. Guess i will probably get rid of the getz downunder and check for the parallel import of the subaru. i did check LTA website, but they are not very informative. Only very general information. Guess i need to write to them instead.
If anyone knows any good parallel car import dealers in singapore, i would appreciate if you could share the info. cheers

i just bought my car from World of Wheels. they are not bad but i am not sure if they will entertain you by bringing cars in from Aus, esp if they do not earn much $$$ from you. unless you have ur own friend working as one, i dun think they will reveil much to you. trade secret...
