Installation of fire extinguisher in vehicle - common ?

With the recent cases of vehicle catching fire, I realise that they're not equiped with fire extinguisher and relies on others to aid in putting out the fire.
How many vehicle owners here equips their vehicles with fire extinguisher? -
Must some keep a small bottle ..

Just bought the replacement unit for the one in the passenger van I usually use... cost me $49.90 from Home Fix.. anyone buy that before?
somehow feel safer with a first aid kit and extinguisher in the vehicle when driving.. -

Yes, it is good to have one on standby, but usually those small one is not that effective. For small vehicle/van, at least a 2.5kg dry powder fire extinguisher, rather using 1kg type. For lorry...etc, a 9kg type is suggested. However, if fire really started in engine compartment, how you can open the front bonnet if you see fire seeping out, still dare to slot your fingers in to open the latch?
By the way, a small fire extinguisher like 1kg can only last for less than 7-8 secs if the lever is fully pressed. -

i got 1 under my chair..as in the car..
but what happens when it expire? what will come out? will it make the fire bigger?

some cars come with first aid kit and extinguisher when u buy it.. some even come with red hand flare (SOS fireworks signal)..
there was once when a parallel importer was selling a bunch of japanese cars with red hand flares unknowingly.. LTA found out and ordered all the owners to remove the red hand flare from under the glove compartment as well as the PI to remove all the flares before selling..
i know mercs usually have first aid kit standard.. bmw has them as an option.. -

It have a bracket to hold it to your car floor board or the side of the driver seat. -

Some fire extinguisher is for the owner to throw it into the fire for it to explode and kill the fire... But it's normally for smaller fire, basically for Cat A fire only..
