tt means to say corollas corner well???Originally posted by tomsss:This 3dr type r is engineered in europe, while the 4dr JDM is well... from japan lah.
Torsion beam suspensions are durable, saves more space than coil overs and easy adjustability of ride height... plus the replacement of torsion bars with different spring rate is in most cases, an easy task.
So maybe cos of its durability and high stiffness... provides better cornering ability?
ooh........Originally posted by tomsss:no lah.. cos for torsion beams, is you either have it set for comfort or stiff... for performance car, ride quality is not an issuei read it somewhere on the net lah... but no doubt is cheaper than coilover system.
becos the previous type R was said to be sluggish and blah... so i guess the engineers were in need to explore new system suspension technology within budget... so maybe that's why loh.![]()
K20 also used in the Old CRV wad....Originally posted by n0x:ooh........
liddat hor... throw in an old k20 into a new body... with a cheaper suspension... and then sell it as a new car????
now the price tag doesnt seem right to me liaoz... liddat i rather go for golf....
btw... the k20 is the one found in a dc5r hor... not the dc5s one right....
but this is a NEW civic what... i am not saying the k20 is a lousy engine... i am juz saying that they din like use a new engine like what they did for the 1.8 FD civic....Originally posted by AE86tofu:K20 also used in the Old CRV wad....![]()

No la..i doubt so..torsion beam set-up is not a independent suspension set-up..the reason why independent suspension set-up like multi-link set-up is favoured over non-independent suspension set-up is because independent suspension can maintain more contact between the tyres and road..But of course, independent suspension system more expensive..Originally posted by tomsss:no lah.. cos for torsion beams, is you either have it set for comfort or stiff... for performance car, ride quality is not an issue i read it somewhere on the net lah... but no doubt is cheaper than coilover system.

if not for saturday's LIFE introducing the type r kah motor is going to bring in... i wld nv have realised this...
and that is.. the civic type r uses a rear torsion beam suspension...
we remember the days when EGs and EKs uses double wishbone all-round... and subsequently... honda switch to a front macpherson and rear double wishbone setup... right up to the new civic FD they are still using this...
but why the type r uses this rear dependent suspension setup...
can any experts enlighten me...
is honda trying to short-change the oblivious???
the specs for suspension is wrong...Originally posted by Naughtius Maximus:
