Bought my coupe cabriolet!

  I started a thread sometime in March this year seeking advice on which coupe cabriolet to buy as I was in the market for one. I finally did it! Bought myself a Peugeot 206cc and am so in love with it. Yes it's nowhere near as powerful as the MX-5 or MR-S or the Mini Cooper or Beetle cabs, but it handles alright and is the right mix of sexy+sassy+cute, just the attitude I was looking for.
  
  Driving with the top down is just liberating. The feeling is indescribable, the adrenaline rush is completely addictive! I get my fair share of gawking stares from other road users, but I guess it comes with the territory, and am getting used to it
  
  Thanks to all well meaning folks who offered their advice! I'm very happy with my choice.
  
  Side point: does driving with the top down consume more fuel? Does it increase the drag on the car? The discussion is moot, since I don't care will drive topless anyway , but I'm curious to know.

  I just traded in my 206 1.6 which I bought in 2002. Yeah, it's not the 1.4 that's available now. I think the engine I had is the same as yours, unless u got the 2.0 version.
  
  I wrecked the gearbox on that one. Sure, I was a heavy-footer, but I later found out there may have been another reason that the gearbox failed.
  
  AutoFrance does not change the transmissioin fluid for the gear box at all. When I said this was strange, they just said that that's the instructions they got from Peugeot, although when I was having the problem, one of the things they did was to change the transmission oil. And the guy even told me that the fluid that came out was black.
  
  So my advice is this: get the transmission fluid changed (preferably before 3 years).
  
  Oh, and if your gearbox fails, AutoFrance will tell you that they do not do overhauls on gearboxes. So they can only replace a new one for you at $13,000! Yeah, they'll also tell you they can get a recon one at $9,000, but these prices did not make financial sense to me.
  
  At the end, I did an overhaul outside to the tune of $2,500. Unfortunately, the gearbox failed again after 6 months. That's when I traded in my car. Was driving a Renault before the Peugeot. I loved the 206 for its style and responsive auto transmission. Now I've finally gone Japanese

  206cc whr can on par with mx-5 all these cars. i drove b4 so many times. e car is simply too heavy.

  Yes, the drag will increase with the top down. However you can install a wind deflector behind the seats to get around that.

  i do agree peugeot build nice cars.. however.. im disappointed with their built quality..

  Thanks for the tip! Mine is the 1.6. And yes, the responsiveness is great though i may not be pushing mine as hard as you did- i'm just a girl after all, hehe.
  
  Sounds like I might as well get it serviced outside once the warranty is up, since AutoFrance doesn't do this or that!

  aye,... warranty is still 3 years?,... then it's gonne be a long wait,...
  
  Really, remember to change the transmission oil by then,... otherwise,...
  
  I really loved my 206,... but dead means dead lah,... I was really so sad to let it go,...

  306cc is abit weird, dun u all think so. To Ts, rmb check e roof. try to pour alot of water on it, wash or drive in e rain. see whether it will drip in anot. cuz 206cc had these problems with the retractable roof when it came into market. in the end peugeot company had to take in back many to work on it. so just check =)

  Oh yeah, reminds me. Although my 206 was not the CC, when I drove at higher speeds, I could hear the sound of the wind. When I went to wash at a petrol station, water seeped in through the front windscreen.
  
  Turns out that the sealent for the front windscreen wasn't enough. Something to check for.

  It looks like this (a mesh screen), and reduces the wash created when the top is down. I'm not sure where in Singapore you can get an aftermarket one.
