Honda Hybrid will only make sense if u r super high mileage + travel more city than highway.Originally posted by urbanmonkey:Hi guys,
I'm thinking of getting my first car soon and have been asking around which car is petrol effiecient because I need to travel quite a bit on daily basis.
A lot of my collegues recommends Honda Hybrid but however, the car price is very steep @ $80k!! I was thinking of a car which cost around <$65k.
Anyway, here's a little background on my budget...I would be putting a downpayment of around $10k and my max installment ceiling would be $750/month and from my calculations I would break-even in 4.5years if I take a loan period 7 years @ 2.85%.
So, could anyone recommend me which car I should consider buying? I'm pretty much clueless here so could anyone kindly recommend?
Many many thanks!!!

in a way, u are right...thus, that's why i'm looking for a good distance vs petrol comsumption cars...Originally posted by caleb_chiang:They all consume fuel... thus all inefficient...![]()
then how about vios?Originally posted by rathcycle:Everybody seems to say altis when it comes to low FC.
Auto ah..Originally posted by urbanmonkey:hi, thx for responding..i am looking only for auto transmission coz, been renting auto cars since i got my licensethe rest, i got no preference may it be hatchback or sedan nor its brand (however, performance reliability plays its outmost importance). i believe petrol prices will continously go higher thus, it will impact on the car expenditure in the future..
secondly, wat's the difference if i buy from auth dealer or parallel importer? how about the after-sales services?
hi, i totally agree wif u abt choosing my car wisely coz no matter how i calculate, the earliest break-even date for a 7-yr loan would be 4.5 yrs after purchase (unless i downpayment more lah...but again, it'll means i'll have lesser cash in the bank) so that's why i'm putting much consideration into it.Originally posted by nOrmalbOi:Auto ah..
Hatchback - Honda Jazz (AD)/Fit (PI), Mitsubishi i (AD), Fiat Panda (AD)
Sedan - Honda City (AD), Toyota Axio (PI)
Estate/Stationwagon - Honda Airwave (PI), Toyota Corolla Fielder (PI)
The above choices i listed are what I heard to have about 16km/l FC. But the actual FC you will get will depend very much on your traveling profile as well as your driving style. Go test drive the cars where possible (PI very difficult to get test drives) and try and imagine which one would you be the least irritated by after 2 years of ownership. If you do decide on a PI car, for Toyota I recommend Ricardo and/or Richburg, who more or less specialise in bringing in PI Toyotas. For others, maybe Vincar and Cartimes. They will not be the cheapest, but will offer more peace of mind for a few more bucks. Have fun choosing. Make sure, then sign. A car is not something you can bring back for a 7 days 1 to 1 exchange if you suddenly decide you got the wrong one.![]()
Frankly, to me, the more practical car is the Honda City vtec. You get a more spacious car for about the same price. And since looks dun matter much to you the city would serve you well I think. It has the ultra seats to help you produce miracles (of life) tooOriginally posted by urbanmonkey:hi, i totally agree wif u abt choosing my car wisely coz no matter how i calculate, the earliest break-even date for a 7-yr loan would be 4.5 yrs after purchase (unless i downpayment more lah...but again, it'll means i'll have lesser cash in the bank) so that's why i'm putting much consideration into it.
frankly i'm not into car physical looks etc and as i reiterate before, the perfomance quality and petrol consumption is my major concerns. no point having a nice looking car but it's a petrol guzzler or it's an always "sick" car.
as for my driving profile, i'll be mostly using it on the highways coz i need to go places like pasir ris or woodlands (wafer fabs) and i'm staying somewhere in bt panjang. thus, most of the time i guess my travel road will be the highways....
anyway, i think i decided to get honda jazz/fit...getting lots of good comments on it, a nice transport mode and i like the ultra seats...hehehe...can bring down the seats at the back and got lots of space (can do miracles in there wif my gf...hahahahhaa....but hopefully the suspension is good!!! hahahahah :lolsecondly, wat's the diff bet jazz and fit (apart from engine cc)? it looks the same physically and both uses the iDSI engine...you know anyone from honda AD/PI?
